from the registration site:

Prior Experience: Time Trial participants without a PCA Zone 8 Solo Permit, Zone 8 Student Log Book issued by SDR, or a POC Time Attack License must have completed at least 8 Autocross and/or DE and/or Driving School/PDS days or equivalent over the past 24 months. If you do not have one of the above Zone 8 or POC credentials you should e-mail your driving event history, including performance driving dates, locations, event types, and name of group organizing the event, to the Registrar immediately after registering.

All non-credentialed drivers will be required to have an Instructor. Also please note that there are clothing requirements and an approved Snell helmet is required. Please contact the Registrar at least 2 weeks prior to the event for information on helmet rental if needed. TT Students without Zone 8 Student Log Books: please check the appropriate box to order one when you register.

I'll be heading down again this year. Looks like a good GT3 field to play with.

There are some driving experience requirements to drive as a student at a TT

San Diego PCA did a DE at Chuckwalla in Jan and the next DE is at Chuckwalla in Oct.

Even if you have that experience, it may be too late to register for CFOS as there are over 100 people registered in the first day of registering. Also if you haven't driven a big track, the Autoclub Speedway may not be the best track to bust your cherry.

If you have the minimum experience, you can register anyway, worst case you may get waitlisted. You will need a transponder and the rental ones from the club often sell out fast and if they are sold out , you will get waitlisted

GPX PCA has one coming up soon

Do a search on motorsportreg.com. The Alfa club is doing a bunch over the next few months as well as the audi club

Registration just closed for the BMW club DE at Chucky

HPDE = High Performance Driver Education

Open passing is definitely not Driver Education for low or non-experienced drivers

This groups Advanced Time Attack...there is at least one other POC Time Attack Group, BUT....I have not seen the run schedules.

I'm in with over 100 cars entered in time attack alone plus POC & PCA club races this years FOS should be epic. Bob

I just looked at the registration list again. At this point there are 13 GT-3 cars for the sprint races - that will be a hoot! Unfortunately only 4 in the enduro (so far). Must be too many high-strung sprint motors in the field.

Agreed, should be great times!

Keep in mind 10 of those 13 cars are actually POC GT3 (so 9.01 horsepower to weight), not the PCA version of the class. If you're running a PRC GTL car you should fit in nicely.

I'm signed up for the GT3 sprint races, but as of now have a conflict that weekend.....hoping to free it up.

I've already run Autoclub once...don't want to worry or deal with TT so that's why I was hoping there would be a DE during the weekend too...guess not. Still might drive out there to watch

You can drive all the sessions Friday through Sunday, then just skip the timed runs at the end of the day Sunday...

I think it's that they suck too much gas, and have too small of a gas tank to last 55 minutes on the gas!!
