Article on Wearing Normal Clothes at Events
Started a little writing again and plan on continuing short articles that may help some folks avoid a tragedy. Some good safety nuggets so please read and share.
Also, if anyone enjoys writing please hit me up..would love to have some guest bloggers in the racing arena.

If someone wants to paste here also, that's fine..was going to do it myself but it wasn't as pretty. Not after clicks, just getting some info out there. This subject seems to come up a lot and SCCA asked me to do it.

No seriously I've done some testing with the poly blends..seriously nasty stuff. And, if you just look at some of the shirts on the market these days, you can't tell they are blends just by looking at them.

This issue is more than important, 5*it can happen. Two persons I know got burned quite badly at Nordschleife while their R8 Spyder flipped over to a guardrail, spilled the fuel all around and caught fire before stopping... Only safety gear both were wearing was the helmet.
made to think what to wear.'
Big BUT here is the fact that there isn't -AFAIK- any manufacturer that makes flame retardant gear someone could use at DEs without looking like a total moron. *gough* ..have a red Ferrari and a matching race suit... *gough*

I created a shirt for DE's that are a little robust than the SuperLite I use under the suits. It's called the Podium model. And you won't look like a moron. I have some that use them under the suit as well..very light and comfy.
I still DE and wanted something that was fire retardant, but looked good enough to go eat tacos at lunch with the guys in it if I wanted. It does NOT protect as much as a suit (suit with SFI underwear it the best and I always suggest first). But, it sure beats the heck out of wearing cotton torch or poly. Have them in gray also. I hope to develop this line further in the future to include pants or a nice FR jean.
Not a pitch to sell stuff, although I'm grateful. But there are alternatives out there to make us safer in the car at any type venue.
