Cayman GT4 Clubsport Unveiled

So I am getting a ton of bang for my buck. I was hoping there would be a path into a more modern race car to race at the Club Racing level that would cost somewhere in between a Cup Car and what I am running now. I figured it would be closer to the Cup Car cost but I was hoping it would not be as close as it is.
As for your repeated use of hope?
I hope for world peace. Not happening any time soon either.

The hope (there is that word again) was that the Cayman GT4 Clubsport would perform as good or better than my car and not cost as much as 997 Cup Car (which I can buy for less than the GT4 CS) to campaign.
Since I want to race at the Club Racing level, a used 997 Cup Car appears to make a lot more sense as things stand today. Well, except that on the west coast there are not Cup Cars running in PCA or NASA and the running cost is still crazy....

With the 2 set of tires per weekend this get crazy expensive crazy fast. Let's be generous and say the tires costs $2000 per set and you race 8 weekends a year. That is $32,000 just in tires.
I can run a lot of classes for a whole season on half the tire budget of the Cayman GT4 Club Sport class alone.
I was hoping that the every aspect of running in this class would cost much less than running a Cup Car. So far, it seems the running costs will about the same except for engine and tranny expenses...and I am not even sure about that. As of now, it seems the only big cost savings is the initial buy in.

Plus you'd instantly be labeled an asshat....

I guess I'm losing the thread. You want to go fast. Your current steed is faster than a 996 and maybe 997.1 cups. But 997.1 cups are too expensive to run. Why are you racecar shopping?

It would be great to be able to run a more modern Porsche that is fast but does not cost just about as much as a Cup Car to run AND that has a well populated class on the west coast. That was what I was hoping for with the PCA class for the Porsche GT4 Clubsport.
I guess I will just stick with my old air-cooled car for the foreseeable future....

In all seriousness a Spec Cayman will actually offer similar performance. Or look at Mooty's steal of a GTB1 car for sale for $65k. I'm not sure that in base PCA series spec these cars will actually be faster than a gtb1.

How much faster do you think the Spec Cayman will be than the Spec Boxster at a track like Sears Point?

The base production Cayman GT4 sells for 85,779 Euros ($91916.49 US today) in Germany and $84,600 US here in the USA. How much do we add for import tax again? Nothing. Knock about $7,300 off the price?
