Default Engine rebuild question: hose plugs

For those of you that frequently rebuild engines or other maintenance work...

How do you cap the open fittings and lines while things are apart? Ive taped balloons or gloves over the open lines to keep them from dripping... But that always seems to fail.... There has to be a better way.

New parts will come with those red plastic temporary caps... Would love to find a source for them... Any idea where to buy something like that (in qty < 100,000 units)
