COTA flooded
They cancelled the DE on Sunday after record rainfall here today. Apparently the offices and tunnels are full of water as is the pit lane. Anybody have more details? I wonder how long the track will be closed for cleanup...

Ugh, that is a second business blow after the less than sell out F1 weekend.
I think a lot of the crowd chose the Mexican GP this year instead of going to COTA. Having them back to back makes sense from F1 logistics, but will hurt COTA going forward.
Canceling the DE with such short notice will be tough on anyone planning / traveling from a distance if they already started their travels.

Yes, I was supposed to be coaching a client there Sunday in his new GT4. Sort of surprising that a modern facility like COTA can't clean up enough for an event 48 hours after the storm, yet an antiquated run down facility like TWS is open this weekend...

I left town (Austin) yesterday and accidentally drove past cota. the area was completely destroyed. Not just cota; outside of cota that little gas stations roof fell in ! There were cars on the side of the road with people wandering ala "the walking dead" and power lines fell over and were dangling in water/the street. It was pretty chaotic I can only guess how bad it looks inside cota. Must have been the freak combination of insane rain and wind all at once.

Sucks but we had crazy rainfall and if there really was 14 feet of water in the tunnels and a foot of water in pit lane yesterday, it's going to be really bad today since it rained all night again.
I had my car all ready, bummer!

Yikes, we park right there in lot G. That has to be 6 feet of water on the sidewalk next to the chainlink fence!
I can't imagine what the grounds look like after the F1 race with all the cars that were stuck every 15 feet last weekend. The ruts I saw everywhere were 12-18" deep which someone is going to have to knock down or fill in to maintain the grassy areas.

Not just CoTA; Bergstrom airport supposedly has had to close its control tower and is down to 50% capacity on flights, with significant delays and cancellations expected on an ongoing basis for a while.
