Default What is, in your opinion the best/most engaging GT3?.....

Aside for the Cups, which street legal GT3 would you consider the best, most rewarding track car/week-end warrior?

How do the older ones (996/997)fair to the new one (991)?

A friend of mine wants to know........Thanks!

Well the fastest one is the 991.

The most rewarding and engaging is the 996 cup.

What is the best is only answered by whether you want to go fastest or whether you want a more engaging and rewarding drive.

I am assuming from your answer the 996 "stock" GT3 is it...... and I have heard that before........ thanks for your input.....

I have never driven a GT3, but everyone says it is heaven on earth......

I've driven a few, one 6GT3 in particular with the sound insulation removed. Still gives me a tingle just thinking about it.

most engaging- 996 GT3 - Only ABS - fly by wire- (can be overridden in ECU so you can left foot brake)

But the 997 GT3 (07 and above?) look so much better to me...

You can left foot brake with eGas. You get about 2/3 of a second before it cuts the throttle, which is often enough ...

You didn't ask about looks.

The answer is 996GT3.

The 991GT3 is incredible, but the electronics do A LOT of "adjusting" and flatter an inexperienced driver to look better than they really are. I'm not sure that an experienced driver will necessarily want the car doing the driving for him. I've seen noobie drivers in a 991 GT3 with street tires beat really good drivers in modified GT3s of other generations on hoosiers. The delta in times for Noobies and experienced drivers in prior generations of GT3s used to be a few seconds. In the 991GT3, the differences between those that can drive and those that are learning to drive is only a few tenths, proof that the car is doing most of the driving.

Nope- full left foot braking- I had someone special go into ECU- defeated it. 31 perimeters were changed I believe. Even some guys from Protosport wonder about my car- pulls them on top end. (Shelly- before he put the monster turbo engine in) comes to life over 6500- you can see it on my Pocono tapes against other GT3's . Love it. Full interior as well.

No, what I mean is, you can still LFB a stock 6GT3 without messing with software.

It would shut down originally- in about a second. Like it was turned off. scary- My R32 VW worse -really scary- goes into a limp mode for 4- seconds it seems. Now I can drag the GT3 brakes into a corner still on accelerator to set the front with no cut off. Something was changed. And tuned on dyno. Not sure what they did.

Right. But as I said, a second is plenty of time for left foot braking anyway...and generally having the motor cut out doesn't affect the braking . It's just startling the first time.
