A variety of organizers mix cars nowadays... Even race organizations like NASA and historics...

Chin and Edge Addicts both have had open wheelers at COTA. I think I recall that at the last Edge event racers got their own run group.
Those Formula cars' engine sounds were so refreshingly awesome. Closely followed by the Lambos. The green Lambo in particular was screaming fast. Now I know what it's like to be lapped at COTA...
Being mixed in with those guys is fun in a way, ups your game with respect to awareness/planning.
Someone educate me on the Camel Chevy #8 car?

Richard Antinucci, Italian F3 front runner, IRL driver and Eddie Cheever's nephew in the 07 car. Did a 1:43.9 at VIR in that thing! Sheesh!

I was at this event, my first time at COTA. Didn't realize so many RL guys were there! What an incredible group of cars, and yes, sharing the track with them was way cool. Not sure why they put so many very slow corners in the track, but overall I liked the track a lot. Special thanks to ProCoach Peter for his guidance on the track, which was spot on. As usual, Chin ran a great event.

I don't have data for that weekend, but the 07 LBST Huracan is closer to Tudor GTLM times than GTD times...
