This is something I designed and built. I don't mind sharing the details.

I looked at commercial pit carts but could not find any that did what I wanted.
Had to roll up the trailer "sideways", I don't want to fight with it every time.
Had to "clip" in place, again don't want to fiddle with a bunch of straps. Should “click” into place and go.
Had to hold enough n2 to fully inflate a tire. I don't want to have to depend on power for a compressor.
Had to have room to store my tent.
Had to have room to store 1 set of spare tires.
Room for a few tools and spares.
Has to be the permanent home for all this crap in the garage. I don’t want to have to “pack” before I go to the track.. Just roll it on and go.

The box is ¾” marine plywood top and bottom, and ½” sides.
Its covered in laminate (obviously)
The aluminum corner protectors also seal the corners, there is a bead of silicone underneath.
The latches, hinges and wheels came from irvansmith.com. These guys have lots of cool stuff.
I can’t find where I got the aluminum z-channel for the door frames. It took me a long time to find it the first time, and I’m not finding it quickly now. I used ¾ since the doors are 5/8 (with laminate), that leaves another 1/8 for weather-stripping.

I was really (maybe overly) concerned about over stressing the box as it bounces down the road.
I didn’t want to bolt the wood box directly to the rigid metal frame. I wanted to have some flex to match the movement of the tires. There are rubber isolators where the frame joins the box. http://www.greenerubber.com/wp-conte...ng-bushing.pdf
Internal to the box there is webbing behind each mount point to distribute the load.
All wood joints are very tight, glued and screwed.
Three is a vent just in case the n2 leaks, otherwise it is air tight.
The doors are thin not only to reduce weight, but if there was a catastrophic failure of the bottle, the doors will give way and provide a large vent.

I’ll take some more pictures this weekend of the inside.

Is that pic before you went to your latest MCS suspension setup? If not you need more rear spring and/or bar to keep that front inside tire on the ground....

JR,

I now run with a stiffer rear bar...don't want to change the springs. Too much hassle and expensive...and I now run on Nittos NT-01, not quite as much grip as the Hoosier R7.

I happen to know from experience a pointy top on the trailer front will give you 1.5 mpg with a diesel ford E350 automatic.
