Wow, no escape plan for spectators. Reminds me of Audi at Le Mans. Random luck. Not sure if the ladies would be pleased with the "men" that just running and left them sitting. I suspect they where there at the "friends" request.

European rally spectators are bug-nuts. But Europeans typically are not litigious. They take risks and live with consequences.

But it is what it is. They just have a different definition of personal responsibility.

The current Audi commercial shows a rally car driving through a sea of humanity. That would freak me out as a driver.

Check out the films from the Mille Miglia from the 50's.

450HP Ferraris with 4.5 inch tires and drum brakes going 120MPH through small towns while a parting sea of local young bucks line the streets to touch the car as it went by at speed.
