What you need is 2 jacks. AC Hydraulics for the garage/shop and a cheapo for the track.
As soon as I finish the remodel of my garage an AC Hydraulics we be coming home. Last 2 remaining bad or weak Craftsman will go the scrapyard.
Bob, who is the importer? Telephone #?

Skip,
AC Hydraulic for the shop; Brunnhoezl for the track (easier on my old back).
(Hey,....that rhymes!)
People never have the money to do it right, however they always have the money to do it all over again.

I used it a *lot*, including for raising the rear of my 8000lb motorhome plus 6000lb trailer so I can get the car on/off without scraping. In recent months it started to go bad: when the load gets high it emits a hissing sound and only raises a little bit. It still worked OK, but things were slow.
So I bought another one. Then I took a look at the old one. Removed all the plugs you aren't supposed to remove and inverted it. The oil came out black and horrid. Refilled everything with fresh jack oil, refastened the plugs, did the bleed procedure and now it's working like a champ again. I also cleaned it up, removed the wheels, cleaned them out and packed them with marine grease.
So I'm impressed. $202.21 from Amazon Prime...

We have 2 HF 3 tons and a craftsman of similar weight at the shop that get the living hell beat out of them. All have been going strong for 5 years. Have also used AC jacks in the past with great luck, but they are heavy.
Only time a jack has ever failed me in the past was when I tried lifting too much with it.

You can have my jack when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.....
+1 on the harbor freight although the bolts holding all the wheels on have a tendency to back out. You need to put some lock tight on those babies.
I have an aluminum one for the track and a large steal one for the garage.

And torque wrenches. I just went and replaced my previous $20 HF torque wrench with another one yesterday. Except this time I had a coupon and got it for $12. My other one lasted 6 years (which was 4 years longer than my buddy's Craftsman).
Why people spend hundreds of dollars on a 1/2" torque wrench for their wheel nuts is beyond me.
Back on topic: I also have two HF jacks. Those things are awesome. No issues.
