My Craftsman 2 ton Alum floor jack just quit. I tried to refill, but something more is wrong, so it is time for a new one. I've red some pretty bad reviews of the Craftsman, so I may have just gotten lucky with mine lasting over 5 years.
So what brands are people having good luck with these days. I will use it both at home and the track.
Arcan aluminum floor jack,i'm very satisfied with mine and it fits under my race car ... got it on Amazon ...
They are made in the better part of China with higher standards !
+968 on the harbor freight. If you look closely at all the jacks, they all look the same and are pretty much all made in China. They will break eventually, so always use jack stands. But that harbor freight jack, especially on sale for $59, is hard to pass up. I have 2 and still going strong after 4 years of track and home use.
If you're willing to spend some $ for what is essentially a safety item, just like brake pads or tires, consider Brunnhoelzl. Made in the US, used by pro teams, and a quality piece. I got the Warrior model for $795. Well worth it:
AC Hydraulics. Its all I have used in my shops. There are no better jacks around. Extremely low, reliable (never serviced one of them in over 15 years), gentle on Porsches with a rubber pad, and a very gentle control for lowering car back down.

I have an AC Hydraulics at the house, along with a Harbor Freight. The AC is a high quality unit at a high price. The quick lift pedal is handy and it's much easier to modulate lowering the car. 10+ years on the AC now and no issues.
But it's pretty heavy, so the Harbor Freights make a much better jack for carrying around. And you can buy a lot of Harbor Freight jacks for the price of 1 AC Hydraulic.
