Default Front Tow Hook

I will be replacing the fiberglass front spoiler on my SC, and want to install a permanent tow hook. It seems like I use it more than I'd like.

Any ideas on where I can find one, or will I need to fabricate something?

Any website for Capital City Motorsports?

Also, I'm wondering how they work with front oil coolers and brake ducting?

I made mine, I used a piece of 3"x 1/4 " Steel about 11" long. I mounted it to the bumper attatchment point using slightly longer bolts than used to mount the bumper. I cut a slot in the plastic RS BumperI'm running for it to pass through and away I went. The only tools I needed was a drill press, a hole saw, and a bench grinder I've got an earlier car, and since the Bumper mounting point on a '69-'73 car is different than the system used on your car, it will be a little more complicated but shouldn't be too bad. very easy to make. The down side is I've already had to use it once, the upside is it worked great.

A friend's 911 G car has a tow hook made from a heavy "U" bolt sold as a spring shackle. Cost was $5 at pep boys, it is cad plated and very strong. It mounts thorough the center of the fiberglass bumper, anchored in the sheet metal behind with fender washers and nuts. Pluses: cheap, good looking, very strong, minus: lengthens the car by 3-4 inches which you might need someday...
My tow hook was fabricated by a race shop, basically a heavy piece of 3x12 sheet metal with a hole drilled in the end, welded to the bottom of the front crossmember. Worked great the one time I had to be towed following a fuel pump failure, but it's too low; keep hitting things with it.

Holy grail would be some sort of bumper-height hook with a hinge so it lies flat; I've seen them on Ferrari Challenge and other fancy factory racers, but never commercially.

sometimes yellow 2000lbs strength tow strap can come out a small hole and attach to the frame. for those of us trying to loose weight, putting on 3 lbs of toe hook, hurts!!!
