I kid you not--just finished replying to this thread, then went out for second session today at the Glen with RTR PCA. Coming hot into the toe of the boot, what runs right in front of me but a woodchuck! Can't make this stuff up.

Oh I forgot about this one.....Irene hit a blue jay with the Atom this year. Beak made a small hole in the radiator. The bird carcass somehow made it BEHIND the fan and the radiator. I'm glad Speedsport found it and not me. I think it was a cat thing.

SP seems to have strange priorities. They spent so much building that exaggerated autocross circuit, and yet the main circuit, which is actually quite a nice layout, is barely up to spec. They really need to bring the place up to current standards.

Would appear to me the priorities were generating more revenue. Spending money on the Main circuit adds no additional revenue. Adding another circuit did.

Understand the desire to make more money but at some point your customers need to be taken care of, which in this case is bring the Main circuit up to a safer standard. The choice not to do this is costing their customers big bucks and more.

The only leverage that drivers have to make changes happen is to boycott the track. Unfortunately drivers are not organized as a group, and a lost customer here and there hardly matters. And clubs are afraid to lose track dates so they are not making waves.

October of last year saw a cup car hit a ground hog on the front straight. Thought that was a crazy low probability incident. Only until I hit a deer that afternoon coming out of turn 3. Flat out in 3rd gear in a c6 Z06. Massive damage and what a mess. Some thing came through my side window and cracked my helmet as well. I loved that track. But, I can not get myself to drive it again. I Googled deer accidents at SP and was surprised that there were so many incidents. Some very tragic. I have video. I will post it at some point. Very violent.

Rumor today at the track is that they have contracted to take down trees on some areas close to the track, received permission to hunt on the property, and are building fences in strategic areas. I wish I had more concrete data but I believe this has managements attention now.

He lives over by the toe. During the PCA CR a couple years ago I came out of T6 and saw an object dead center in T7 entry. Got closer, obvious it was a woodchuck in a ball, apparently dead. Came around next lap, still there, wondered why they didn't move it. Came around next lap, planned my corner as I passed a car out of T6, it gets up like it just woke up, unharmed, and ran left into the grass...

The WGI groundhog must have a cousin who lived at the entry to turn 5. I also saw a stationary "ball" on the road, looked like a clump of dirt. It was in the middle of the track and I like to run inside there so moved down. Just as I passed it moved toward the inside and I ran over it with the rear wheel tearing up the fairing. It remained on the track for the remainder of the session, a debris was eventually shown.

In honor of this deer-strike, I submitted this design to Blipshift.com for consideration

A deer ran across the track in front of me between turns 9 and 10 yesterday during FATT session 3. Fortunately it was pretty far out in front of us and was alone, but yeah..... My gopro battery had died or I would have a pretty nice shot of it.

Maybe good news, but now will we have to dodge bullets instead of deer?
