AX / Car Control Clinics in SoCal?
Hi All - Wondering if any of you are aware of any car control clinics, skid pad, "pitch and catch", "drifting" (i.e. holding slides) type exercises being held in SoCal. I know the OC PCA group does one 1x a year or so. But looking ideally for something being held before the summer heat dies down and I get back on the track. Objective is to better feel the car at the limit in a "safer" environment and catching slides, spins, etc. I do plan to sign up for OC AX and give that a whirl (never done AX!). Thx.

PCA-OCR is a great club. I've been with them for more than 5 years now.
They do a clinic once a year in February, but you can also sign up for any autox event as a student and they'll set you up with an instructor.
El Toro is one of the best venues around too; very little to hit.
Come by and say hello. I'm driving a black 928, #59.

You should have been with us (POC) at ACS this weekend. We ran the oval for our races and TA series, and the infield course for our PDS (DE) series. We had over 140 cars total...
We run our driver's and race clinics twice a year and use a skidpad when applicable. I was under the impression that modern Porsches like your GT3 have traction control of some type that makes using a skidpad ineffective. Is that not correct?...

Appreciate the advice, I have about 20 HPDE events under my belt and am getting much faster. But, I rode with an instructor who was super smooth but had very, very quick hands, easily catching the car on edge. Clearly experience at play, but he said AX and car control clinics helped him immensely.
JR: Sounds like a great weekend, 140 cars is fantastic attendance. Car is in shop getting coolant pipes welded or I would have been out on the Roval in the TA group this weekend. I can disable traction control fully on my car, it does not have PSM (porsche stability management). I've done the POC drivers clinic but they did not use the skidpad for that event.
I'll be doing some POC events later this year (Chuck, Button, etc)

Unfortunately I can't, headed out of country. Very bummed! That's going to be a great event.
Thanks for the pointers to AX events, I've already done the driver clinics with sdr pca, poc, and one with bmwcca (who had a bunch of pca/poc instructors). I'm not a complete newbie (done about 20 days hpde since jan), but am looking for some lower speed specific car control (i.e. skidpad) type exercises. Will do AX for sure as soon as I can.
