991S Fabspeed and Lime Rock dB limit
I have a 991 Carrera S for daily driver and track duty. Very interested in the Fabspeed Supersport X-pipe exhaust system, which eliminates the side mufflers and replaces the center muffler(s) with an X-pipe and resonators. Should sound terrific, but more important, Fabspeed claims a 40-something hp increase over stock.
My concern is the strictly enforced sound limit at Lime Rock (88dB for most days). LRP is my "home" track and I definitely want to run there in addition to the Glen and NJMP. Fabspeed's YouTube videos show a 104dB reading on this particular exhaust setup measured at 1m. The question is, since the LRP readings occur at various spots alongside the track, at a distance much greater than 1m, would this particular setup likely pass? Anyone with experience in this regard?
Thanks in advance.

I was black flagged for sound at LRP with a 3.4 equipped with Fabspeed headers, no cats, and twin mufflers. I couldn't believe it. 88 dB is not that loud. It just depends what day it is.

No way you would pass. I have a similar set-up on my Cayman and will only pass with the original mufflers installed.

You can drive at Hudson Valley Region's unmuffled DE on Tuesday, July 22, 2014. We run unmuffled in the afternoon until 6:00 PM. Register via www.clubregistration.net

LRP has been very difficult for noise limits. Some years ago, we had a bone stock C4 black flagged for noise limits. People have fiddled with pipes they hope redirect the sound, with mixed results. The armco does a heck of a job echoing sound.
I'd stick with the factory stock exhaust and keep your fingers crossed. Or drive at a real race track. I'd also take Fabspeed's claims of hp increase with many grains of salt: hie thee to a dyno.

I drove at LRP last week during the Hudson Valley Region event. The morning was muffled and the afternoon was unmuffled. I have a Cayman S with catless headers and a Fabspeed "street" exhaust. I went out in the morning to see if I would pass the db test. No black flag. Hard to figure what will pass there and what won't.

Had a buddy put them (Supertrapp) on his 997S w/ race exhaust last week at LRP. It threw a CEL and he claimed a noticeable loss of power, even after putting in all the spacers to "open" up the restriction. Needless to say he didn't find them to be a viable option.

My 996 GT3 with no cats and Fabspeed mufflers will not pass sound check at LRP. I have extensions facing downwards with Supertraps at the ends which usually get me by. There is a noticeable loss of power.
I also have a stock 997.2 RS that will not pass in "sport" mode.
It does get better when the trees have all their leaves.
