MXL2, MXG, and Race Studio 3 Update
Fresh from AiM, an update on everything. I know a lot of people are waiting for these systems and the wait is almost over. I can't wait for some of the advancements in RS3!
The lines, "...they are coming," or "...any day now," are undoubtedly getting old. We know. And even though it is of little consolation, we are sincerely sorry for being oh so very late. We realize that garages and shops everywhere are filling to the brim with all varieties of purpose-built race machines all waiting for one thing...a new AiM digital display and data logging system. So, here is where we are at...the MXL2 and MXG systems are both being assembled and boxed up now. All systems will be held until the RaceStudio 3 software is finished up. 'Finished up' does not mean 100% feature-complete. It means that the software will allow your MXL2 or MXG system to be current-MXL-capable. The idea is get everyone the system NOW (or hopefully very shortly) and then finish development on the software and firmware with updates following shortly thereafter. Both systems will have all of the normal MXL functions (and then some). The real-time math, the secondary configurable CAN bus, and some of the other features will come in rapid succession. Rest assured, the moment that RaceStudio 3 is ready to go and has our stamp of approval, we will notify you here.
RaceStudio 3 will be used to configure all NEW hardware, but will still utilize the existing RaceStudio Analysis platform. RaceStudio 3 Analysis will release soon after in a trimmed down form at first and then get more and more feature-rich as develop continues.
To anyone that has an outstanding MXL2 or MXG backorder, we will fill these in the order they were originally placed (to the best of our ability). We are hoping to have enough stock to get everyone taken care of at the time of the launch. Again, that's our goal. If you haven't placed an order yet, please contact your AiM dealer so that they can get the system ordered for you immediately.
Once again, we appreciate all of you sticking with us on this. We will get these new systems launched very, very soon. Thanks!!!
Sincerely,
Your AiM Sports Team

Finally - almost.
If only the SmartyHD would allow me to resume recording the ChatterBox feed from my betters (coach in the right seat).
AiM has missed an opportunity here but I know enough influencers to hope to see it one of these days.

Thanks for putting the new release notice up Peter. I was on a plane on the way to Indy for PRI. I'm getting more excited about the removes of all kinds of new things being released!

Looking forward to having you post pics, Matt!
It's important for everyone to know that all the current offerings are up to date and that while new stuff is coming out, that the current stuff is here now and going to be good for a LONG time!
We know from history that stuff shown at PRI can have a LONG gestation before finally appearing... <grin>

For some odd reason I needed to keep RS2 installed in order to keep RS Analysis. Without it RS3 would ask me for the Analysis from RS2. Is it supposed to work that way?

Yes. RS3 is doing the setup on the MXL2 and MXG while RS2 Analysis 2.54.03H (or later) is handling the analysis. Eventually it will all move inside RS3.

When you install RS3, it installs the new version of RS2H.
The reason for this is to provide not only support for the new architecture and file structure (.xrk) of the new processor equipped dashes, but retain backward compatibility with legacy and current equipment based on the old file structure and processor language (.drk).
Your install is working just fine!
