As a side note I wonder how much longer Rolex will put up with this before they pull their sponsorship.

two notes:
- Mallucelli and Keaby penalized (1 race suspension/probation) http://www.imsa.com/articles/malucel...-hours-sebring
-David Hart, IMSA's Communications (PR) director, has resigned.

48.4 of the IMSA Code! Good.

One race suspension? That's all?
And...the wrong guy resigned

that's a more stringent penalty than we've seen in a long time from IMSA, ALMS, or GA (that I can recall, for on-track problems).
IMO Kearby needs to go run a season of IMSA Lites before returning, but hey his check cleared...

Yeah, they got off easy with the penalties.

Both serious incidents that took out contenders . Both avoidable and a huge potential for serious injury. Penalized only one race? This is ridiculous.. This isn't hockey. A clear risk to other drivers......

professional (or quasi-professional) racing, you pay your money you take your chances....
I can think of few other pro series where contact like that would have gotten a race ban (F1, Indy, NASCAR, etc)...it's extremely rare to park a driver for dangerous moves. probation, yes; bans, no.

Thanks for posting VR. Marshall lives nearby and is an excellent writer and huge racing enthusiast. Nice young man as well. I guess he calls them as he sees them.
Some of my local contacts are very close with people involved/formerly involved with stewardship (including names mentioned here), and the general feeling I get is that what we know about and hear about is only a partial picture.
Let's hope the situation improves rapidly and that this form of racing has a bright future.
