I bought a Helmet Popper. Not cheap, but a great investment for my safety. The nice thing is that it doesn't need anything else to work.

Dave, I just bought two Eject inflators. I will offer one to the EMS crews this weekend.

When I bought my new Stand21 helmet last spring, Kevin was right up front about getting an Eject installed. Was a no-brainer for me! Whatever safety feature that was available, I had Stand21 put it in my helmet.

Kinda surprising (NOT!) that PCA hasn't thought to include this in their EMS kit. Every driver I know that has recently purchased a new helmet has had an Eject installed.

Matt, I plan to call Kevin McConnell to get one in the next few weeks. The design looks pretty cool. And I am a BIG supporter of Yves Morizot and his company (Stand21)!!!!

PCA does not have "EMS kits". PCA provides Strewards, Scruts and Timing. The region (usually through the track) provides EMS. PCA does specify a minimum requirement for the EMS teams and has some really sharp docs, who are also racers, on the Medical Committee to advise on the subject. I would be happy to connect you to a member of the CR Medical Committee to discuss it if you like.

Toby I would like to see this eject system this weekend. I'll find you or come by our trailer. Brought the old trailer that's for sale thought this might be the perfect time.

I can appreciate wanting to use the safest technology, especially in a helmet. But in amateur racing with local community EMS units at the track, I don't see a lot of benefit in these helmet removal systems. In fact, I would be concerned that trying to use them might be harmful.

Speaking from experience both as a Paramedic and then surgical training at a Level 1 trauma center, safe helmet removal is not difficult. Unfortunately I have taken care of my fair share of patients with spinal fractures. In my opinion, at a PCA race, I like my chances better without an Eject (or similar).
