Best hotels "close" to chuckwalla
Doing POC event in early march.
Drive out, I know it's an hr to the track from Indo. Suggestions on hotels? I am a little hotel picky, safe for car parking, but don't want to stay at the resorts in Indian Wells...
Thanks

try the indian casinos. Fantasy Springs is a good one and closest to the track. Keep in mind that there is a big tennis tournament in Indian Wells that time of year, big concert, etc. so book early.

Just check Expedia and Kayak and Indio is full along with the surrounding towns. Palm Springs has some rooms but expensive. I want to suggest 2 alternatives. Racers from Arizona go back to Blythe for the night. It's actually a few mile closer to the track than Indio, and the hotels are considerably less expensive. There's a Clarion and Quality Inn both at $100. per night. The other alternative is a boutique hotels. Google for them....
Many of us will just choose to camp/sleep in our trailers (air mattress/feather bed) as there's pretty nice restroom with hot showers and it becomes a big party Sat. night....

The on-site bathrooms and showers are fine.
It is, shall we say, "remote."

Camping at track is an advantage for sleeping in.

Appreciate the feedback all. Sounds like a great excuse to have an rv.
Will look into Indio bw.
Question friend may come out with daily driver that could use to cart to and from track. Would parking car overnight at track be an issue?
Thx

As stated above, the Best Western Indio is your best bet. It's where most people stay who are headed to Chuckwalla. Not fancy by any means, but adequate.
If you stay there, be sure to be pushy regarding the room rate. They started off wanting $198/night from me, then finally came down to about $80 after some pushing.
A couple weeks ago I stayed in one of the trailers. That's the way to go! Otherwise, a long drive out and back to Indio in the morning and evening (about an hour each way).
As stated above, you need to bring blankets, food, etc., but the trailers were very clean and spacious. The showers/restroom at the track are also very good.
There are only a few trailers available.
If anyone has info about the RV company that will deliver one there, please let me know, I will likely use that option in the future, since it's tough to get the trailers at the track.
No problem at all leaving your car at the track for you or your friend (I think maybe they will have to pay the access fee? About $10 or so).
Here's a pic of the paddock and trailers:

If you're on the AZ side Comfort suites in Blythe. Only about a year old. Probably expensive by blythe standards but cheap by comparison to PS. Oversize rooms with the newer boutique setup, flat screen tv, wifi, and most importantly they have truck size pull thru parking in the well lit, walled in parking. You can get a room overlooking the lot if you are nervous about it, but I felt fine with an enclosed trailer.

If it were me I would stay at the track even in a tent.
But the Omni Rancho Las Palmas is about 90 minutes away.

Palm Springs would be the ticket if the wife and kids came along.

PS and Blythe are about your only options at this point and Blythe is considerably closer to the track.

The Willows stands out among the rest but any of the small hotels in that area adjacent to the tennis club are fun places to stay. Most importantly, they're all close enough to walk to the Citron bar at The Viceroy for lunch & libations....
