NOW they are objecting - after all that dirt has been moved?
What palmer needs is more revenue coming into town, especially since they aren't getting the casino (which I would have voted against as well).

When I lived 6 miles (as the crow flies) from Thompson Speedway we always knew when they were racing and when they were practicing.

Who knew? Though i would think that the elevation and the surrounding landscape of the palmer location would help in that regard.

A photo tour last October: https://www.flickr.com/photos/248217...h/10292005026/

More noise from the locals but also suggests it's nearing completion: http://www.masslive.com/opinion/inde..._ware_res.html

I live in a really small town here in CT and there is a small group of people that make it their mission in life to oppose anything that changes the town. Sometime this is a good thing but normally these people are just plain crazy.

Sounds like they woke to the realization that a track was being built in their town. Instead of embracing it, and the lower taxes it will bring, they want to fight it.

I emailed with them a little while ago and they are moving along. They expect pavement late this month and to be open in 2015.

Back in the late eighties or early nineties (i forget exactly when) there were plans to build an NHRA drag strip in Uxbridge, MA right on the border with Douglas, MA and Rhode Island. During the initial site permitting process, as a sound test, they ran a top fuel dragster and a funny car several miles away on (i believe it was) route 146. And that was the end of that idea...

Amazing - think what I'll be saving on towing costs.
But I am rather hooked on Watkins Glen and Tremblant.
Maybe more track time...

it looks like the Tamworth, NH private track is also progressing again. Their site is still pretty basic, but their Facebook page is showing a lot of progress from this summer.

But I had a ton of fun this year and plan to go back. It is a great track.
Maybe if it was closer...

Great to have another localish track. But also looks like this track will not suffer fools gladly, and is going to require some WGI style barriers. Only a few corners with runoff. Other than that it seems the choices are hit a tree, go off a cliff, hit a cliff. So far anyway.

For the faint at heart there is always Thompson's.......

Palmer looks like it is going to be a great (and closer) alternative to LRP.......
