I'll have a pro coach along for both this and COTA. I'm sure he wouldn't mind offering tips. He'll be pretty busy, though (coaching three of us at both events). I'll be in a red 996 Turbo, #130.

Sounds like his hands will be full with you guys, both tracks are challenging in their own ways. Not sure if you have driven COTA but it collected a ton of cars in turn 4 from events there last year.

Yeah, if your pro diesn't know either track (or only knows one), have him talk to me, so I can tell him the danger spots and keep you guys off the walls...

For those that are interested our event is now available for coverage from Lockton Affinity making insurance possible for those of you who normally buy this.

For those going to COTA, but not quite familiar with Texas geography: Google Maps, directions from Texas World Speedway to COTA.
TWS to COTA is less than a two hour drive.
I live in TX, and that's how far I drive to go to my "home" track in College Station every time I go.

Question for you TX guys. I'm planning my route to College Station. Will be coming from Alabama so passing through Beaumont on I-10. Is 105 going through Conroe then 6 an ok way to go? Keeps me away from Houston at possibly the wrong time of day and is 20 mi shorter than going through H though no quicker.

IMHO stick with the major roads, there are a bunch of small towns, stop lights, and back woods corners on that road. On the other hand if you want to see the world on the way that might work.

If 105 ends up being slow you will be no worse off than going through Houston. Speed limits on two lanes here are quite good usually, 65-70 and even 75 MPH in places and the slow locals usually will go on the shoulder to let you by (that is legal in TX).
Now take this from a guy who's never been to Beaumont or on 105, but I do drive up from Rosenberg on TX-36 and TX-159 and that route is fine.

I agree. If you are going to come "through" Houston during anything close to rush hour, I'd take the Beltway 8 toll road "around" the city. Worth the price you will pay for tolls.

Another piece of advice is due to all the global warming , our winter here has been particularly cold and TWS can be miserably cold if you don't bring enough warm clothes.
It looks like Thursday may be wet (30% chance), but it will be cold, high 30s to low 40s. The prevailing wind goes right through the garages, which is nice for summer, but they give little protection from the cold this time of year. There are two classrooms to warm up in.
Make sure you bring a warm coat and it's a good idea to wear layers. If you really don't like being cold, consider long johns. This time of year I typically bring a winter coat, a light coat, a wind breaker, gloves, hat and I wear jeans, heavy socks and a T-shirt. On top of the T-shirt a sweater and a hoodie and one of the coats. Last weekend I forgot my windbreaker and the wind just went right though my winter leather jacket - I won't make that mistake again.
On the bright side, the it does look like it's going to be warmer for COTA. I don't want to be a wet blanket - come prepared and have fun. If you are really jammed up, there is a Walmart nearby in College Station and you can get cold weather gear in a pinch.
