Mike,
I was hoping for a break from the cold but sounds like that's not to be. It has been the coldest winter I can remember here in N. Alabama. Anyhow, thanks for the tip. Will pack extra stuff.

Good advice, and if anyone has friends heading down we still have a few spots available and the Farmer has offered to sponsor lunch for all of us. Great practice for the club race if you are coming down.

. I used to live off of 105 in Beaumont. Skip 105. Pulling a trailer, just take I-10 all the way thru town to 610 to 290. Note that when you switch to 610, you have to jump over a lot of lanes in a short distance to get on 290. It is a real bitch at rush hour pulling a trailer. You might prefer and be better off taking the north loop of 610 to skip around town simply because the transition to 290 is easier. Just a suggestion since I doubt you have an EZTAG for our toll roads.

What time will you come thru Houston? That makes a huge difference. You can skip the whole 10/610/290 thing by staying on 10 all the way out to the west side past the beltway to 99. Take that toll road back north to 290, but it may be EZTAG only.

hey there, I'll be in 23 so definitely drop in. Look for the red GT3. I repeat GT3 NOT GT2 lol.
B'ham had snowmegedden last wk. its been a brutal winter here. It'll likely be hi's in the upper 40's with lows around 30. But the way this year's been who knows. We seem to be in a warmer cycle right now but that usually means rain. See you in a few days.

Best time for coming through Houston to avoid traffic is 9:00am to 11:00am, 1:00pm to 4:00pm, and after 7:00pm. Any other times and be prepared to be frustrated. 99 is eztag, texas tag, etc only, NO toll booths and fines can be expensive.

An alternative is to take FM 359 (a very nice 2 lane farm road) from Brookshire just west of Katy to Hempstead where you meet back up with Hwy 6 / US 290. Houston and its bedroom cities covers a very large amount of area. You will be with us for a while.

Please note that the west side of 610 loop is one of the busiest stretches of highway in the US.

Definitely looks like misery until Saturday.

For those new to Central Texas winter driving,
If it's cold and cloudy, drivers brains freeze.

The smart one hibernate until they can see their shadows, usually only a couple hours.

I'm now more worried about getting to the first run group Fri than I am driving on track :-)

cold track = slippery track. I got sideways on the early morning session just pulling out of grid onto hot pits at January TDE event at TWS. I'd look like a dork crashing into the wall in hot pits at the start. I hope it warms up quickly Friday, but it looks like 43 is all we'll get.
