Default Drinking whilst drivng- how to?

Drinking while racing that is.
I'm somewhat loathe to attach a fixed tube to my helmet that takes up space, impedes movement and has to be undone or ripped out in the event of a fire.

Is there an option- a tube to suck on when needed and just let hang when not in use?

If so, how do you do it?

TIA

Tube with a 90 degree L-connector at the business end. You slip it under your helmet's lower edge, and it fits right into your mouth.

I can only get about three quarters of my beers down through the helmet and then just wing the can out the window.

Do as above which requires steering with my knee.

Hey hey safety first. Only do that during a full course caution.

That's what I did. First time I tried it I let it go and I thought I'd wet my pants as it ran out all over my leg. In Aug it was refreshing though.

I bot a camelback clamp that should prevent that from occurring.

Trick is to put it somewhere within easy reach but out of the way until you need it- in my center net on a loose bungy perhaps.

Pics anyone?

Its been awhile, but I saw a car that used the windshield washer pump & actuation with a cockpit mounted SS tank to send water to the driver in a tube whenever he actuated the washers.

Worked pretty slick.

Yes I forgot to metion the camebak clamp.

IMO velcro the end to some spot on you rcenter console, but not interfering with shifting, so you can grab it and then put it back in place.

I don't need a pump- when it calls for it, I can really suck.
I context of droving that is.

I hang a camel back behind the seat. I fabbed a simple hook from the seat back brace.

The tube goes through the shoulder belt hole. I have Velcro on the shoulder strap that helps keep the tube where you can find it.

Its easy to lose the tube if you don't tether it. Not fun in a 2hr driver stint. It seems as though once you lose the tube, there is no finding again.

I use a camelback mouth piece. It works well for tracks with long straights were you have time to reach for it and then work it under your balaclava to get a drink. However, I cannot get that system to work at a track like Barber where the straights are short.

Beer just makes me more thirsty so I wait until after the race.

I was thinking about that at Barber. Lap 1 find the hose and stick it in yer mouth. Lap 2 open the clamp and take a drink. Lap 3 close clamp.
Lap 4 remove hose. Lap 5 race probably over- proper drink time

I had a water bottle and surgical tube into my helmet that I could easily push into my mouth.

Bottle mounted on passenger side roll cage in cup car. Problem was going thru t2 at glen I about choked to death when g forces pushed a quart of water forcefully into my mouth and helmet. !!

I used a Longacre bottle with the flexible hose & loved it - worked great. The bottle has a bracket that secures it to the roll cage bar.
I've got a spare one I bought for my son's car that I'm selling - PM me if that's of interest. I'll sell for 1/2 of new.
