I have a dilema.
I'm thinking of building a Porsche for club racing/track days (PCA,NASA,SCCA, etc). Problem is I have hard time deciding between GT2 Evo Replica or a 997 GT3.
It's the looks of the car that are the biggest thing for me. I happen to like both cars almost equally. Here are the pics of what they could sort of look like:
I still would have to do a lot of research, but I'm curious what you guys think, like, or suggest.

Hello,
We have the Same thing here (europa) but we stick to the 993, just because it looks more agressieve
most of the time you are the only one with such a car, but i dont know if that counts for the US, and if you build a good one you can compete and win from gt3 cups

+ always check with the GCR or a tech inspector/ scrutineer in the race org you want to race before building out a car.
Are all those wings and areo bolt-on's legal in the class where you will be competitive? Or, will they bump you into a class were you can't compete (but look darn good)
-and its normally a lot cheaper to buy a built car than build it yourself...
good luck!
ps: (is that plexi side window legal in PCA/Nasa?) - how do you get out in a fire...

I would seriously consider getting some track time before you dive into the deep end.
Agree, I would never start in a car like that. Trust me, I know how sucks smell.
I started this thread, because every year or so I want to build/race a different car, and time has come for Porsche, but I just can't decide on the type of 911 I want.

Awegrzyn, I've lived your future. If you want to build an RSR or GT2 clone, then go for it, but understand that you will get $0.25 back on every dollar spent when you sell. You'll also be putting a $100k+ car at risk every time you race, and the fields (no matter where you are) will be smaller and less likely to have parity no matter where you race. If all those things compute and are acceptable, then go for it.
If it were me, I'd keep racing the miata and use the porsche for DE events... or I'd transition to porsche racing in one of the spec classes or a class that has big fields and good competition.
Best PCA options, cheapest to most expensive, in my opinion are: SP1 944, SP2 944, spec box, F-class Boxster S, H class cayman, GTB1 cayman, GTC3 996 cup (but I acknowledge that none of these cars has the aesthetic appeal of a 993 RSR or GT2 clone).
Now if you're looking for a porsche and aesthetics is the sole criteria, bang-for-the-buck, nothing compares to the new 981 Cayman

About 3000 miles since June in a Spec Miata alone.
