NT01 vs Hoosier ; performance differential?

Safety aside, you'll use up your heat cycles doing that. The R1 seems to give 10-15 heat cycles before getting hard. The NT-01 doesn't have this problem, staying nice and soft until the tread is gone. I think the NT-01 is a better DE tire but they're definitely not as grippy as a new R1.

I understand that many people feel that NT01's are squirmy when new and the tires get stickier as they wear. I have gone through 4 or 5 sets and I have not had this experience at all. My new NT01's have been great. I do not feel they get much stickier as they wear. For a fairly sticky tire that costs $1,000/set delivered, and virtually unlimited heat cycles, they are a great value.
Wonder if it might have anything to do with Cayman v. 911?

Dave,
Andrew is looking into some Hankook Z214's for me as my Nittos have close to 60 heat cycles on them, although they still have lots of thread on them they don't come in the front sizing that i'll be using next year.
From what i hear the Hankooks are a compromise in between Hoosier and Nitto, not sure on ease of Canadian availability though ...
I'm sure somebody can post some feedback on the Hankooks ???
Cheers
Phil

Question for you guys...can I put 315/30/18s NT01s on my 997.2 GT3 instead of the 305/35/18s for the rear wheels?

The fear is they will cause compatibility issues with the ABS system since the rears are a good bit shorter than OEM diameter.

I am sure it is setup dependent, but I am wearing out the outside of the front tires despite -2.5 with NT-01, so more likely will go with -2.8 next. Just another data point.
In my experience, the Hoosiers have fairly floppy sidewalls, and need at least -3 degrees of static camber on a McStrut suspension. I am still experimenting with NT-01's, but it looks like theey are more happy at about -2 degrees. I am now trying a compromise setting at about -2.5, as I also have two sets of these mounted up.

I flipped them and went with -2.8 front camber and the wear in nice and even now !

I'm at -2.9 / 3.0-ish on the front of my car and it's still not enough, While I'd like a little more front mechanical grip and think I could get it by going -3.2-ish in the front I'm getting maximum life out of them at -2.9 and flipping the tires on the wheels at about 25 heat cycles PLUS I'm really happy with the balance of the car overall right now. Just slow, mechanical grip corners where I wish I had a little more front grip.

Andy,
I think you are going a bit faster than me that's why you are still wearing more on the outside despite the camber! (I am currently in the White run group only..) Do you run stock spring shocks, or?

The stiffer the springs, the less camber you need, since the car would lean less..
One of these days, I will need to put in some new shocks/springs.. ! I am still running stock setup.

Yeah, not sure I want to find out if the ABS goes nuts with the different wire size especially when I'm going down a straight at over 120mph...I would not want to lock up the brakes!
