I ran F stock for years, but often ran alone, which is not much fun in my book.

I built an E stock 944 Turbo because I had the parts and too cheap to build a 911.

Big fields in E at least in the Midwest although Boxster has caught up/ surpassed.

If I was starting now, I would go spec Boxster.

I built a GT car because that was the next step after building a track car with too many goodies to run stock.

Then I put more money into it.

Then a couple of guys put more money into theirs.

So I'll put more money into mine.

Then we'll all bump up into GT3.

And put more money into our cars.

No regrets though.

Always wanted to learn how to drive a tail wagger so I wanted a 911 of some sort before 'deciding' to go racing. PCA and NASA made it easy to ramp up into racing. Have also raced in a 944 and Boxster (thanks Jim!) which were fun to compare against the 911. Over time I have come to appreciate the larger classes to run in/with if that helps when picking a direction for your vehicle. You've probably figured out it is not as much fun to be first and last if you are the only one in class.

Whatever you choose, have fun and keep us posted!

Always wanted a 944 and ended up buying a 968. That has proven to be a fast, extremely well balanced carto progress and learn to race in.

996, because I enjoy blowing up M96 3.4 motors

well the original appeal was it's a theoretically economical way to go racing with a modern water-cooled 911. also helped that I already owned the car

GTS4/Spec++/ "Baby Cup" 996 is great racing platform for less entry money and maintenance cost than a Cup. In addition good stepping stone to a Cup if you want to end up there.

Same progression for me.... but a few steps ahead. Got tired of the hemorrhaging, sold the gt4s car last month, and now on the hunt for cheap spec racing (sp2 or spec bxt) along with three of my buds who are also bailing on the gt arms race

Glad to hear you're still in the game Glen.

How's the new owner coming along with your monster?

Started in a 944. Cool, balanced, durable and cheap. Also didn't want to spend the race weekend under the car, so that ruled out English cars!

Now race a 6Cup b/c I want to spend my time driving and not turning wrenches.

So far, so good.

DEed my 911 for a few years (owned it sense 1988)and when I wanted to race I focused on E cars and looked for 944s2 or a 968, as I didn't want to race the 911. Ended up with a 968. You have to be ok with walking away from the $$$.

+sp996, though I have to admit I've developed a passion for Spec Miata as well.

I love P cars and still want to race one some day. For now i chose the SRF for big fields, learning to race, and they still put down some fast lap times around most tracks.
