Wow. They're going to need gas pumps at both ends of the track!

Also, there are hills in MA?

What's the closest major airport?

years ago i used to do an awesome weekend of road bike racing in Stubridge Palmer Mass area. was awesome. tons of steepish hills. big time nice area. cant believe they are going to permit a track in such a nice, rural quiet wooded area..

Major would be Boston at about 1.5 hrs away. Regional would be Worcester at about 0.5 to 0.75 hrs. Bradly is also close.

Hate to be the pessimist, but I'll believe any of them when a car is on pavement. Club Motorsports is over 10 years old and Palmer is 4-5 years old? Add in Thompson and I don't see how they will all survive with LRP and NHMS all within a couple of hours of each other.

Although ridiculous sound limits at LRP could potentially hurt that venue and until NHMS builds a completely new road course it will always be a dump that destroys cars.

I agree though that I won't believe the new courses until there are actual cars on the pavement.

There WILL be a new road course in Canaan, NH. It will be ready in 2015, being built on the old Canaan Fair grounds which had a dirt and small paved oval for local Nascar types.

New owner has not fully said how he will run the track but is a vintage sports car guy, and construction has already started.

Matt,

The track is being build on the old Canaan Speedway site. The last of the Nascar type races there was in early fall and the new owner started work on the road course then. Many of the current facilities will be used after rehab.

Long story short, guy sold his company for hundreds of millions and now teaches at Dartmouth, and part of the reason for the new track is to bring new employment to Canaan. Also so he can have a place close-by to race his vintage cars. Win-win for everyone!! Google Canaan Speedway, there may be newer info.

From NCR members who live up there, they think the place is going to sit dormant forever. There has been no word in the Upper Valley about a road course being built.

Matt,

Don't forget that I lived in Canaan and Margo's ancestor started the town. We are back every Aug. Do a little research on The Valley News web-site, all the info is there.

Wow, my Dad, who has lived in NC for the last few years, told me the exact same story, told me to google the Dartmouth prof, which I did. From what I read, it seemed like he was a bit noncommittal about actually doing much with the track.

Although it would be awesome to have a bunch of tracks within a couple hours of Boston, the market won't support big $ spent on construction at more than one or two. If the one in NH needs $100k members, they're in for troube. NH just won't support LRP or Monticello numbers, IMO of course

Video animation. Can't speak to source or accuracy. Hope those rock walls aren't as big and close as they look in video....
