Default Gilles Villeneuve Tribute

Thought my Rennlist brothers would appreciate this; it gave me goosebumps for the entire 10 min. One Enzo's favorite sons....

My all time favorite F1 driver. Senna is the best ever with Gilles 2nd but he is my favorite.

In late '70s when I started at a very young age follow F1, Rally and other motorsport, in F1, Villeneuve was my hero.
Even when Keke joined and I rooted for him, Gilles was my hero, and still is.

Thanks for sharing Pete.

Never forget I was in Europe right after his fatal accident and I picked up a French motorsport magazine with the picture on the cover of his OPEN casket. That really freaked me out though I still have that issue somewhere... one of a kind.

Gilles was always my favorite. I'll never forget the day I opened the paper and read he had died. I clipped the article and saved it for years. I probable still have it in a box somewhere.

Can you post a scan of that, never seen it?
I was actually living in Montreal (McGill Univ.) at the time. The whole country went into mourning.

gums- I'll see if I can find it... but it's pretty spooky... he looks so comfortable. To this day, I can't go near an open casket at any funeral...

Yeah, I'm with you on that, skl, and I think wakes are pretty morbid affairs. But, Gilles was badly injured, ejected from his car and broke his neck against a fence. I'm not dying to see it, but I can't imagine an open coffin. On second thought, please let it go.
