AiM SmartyCam HD, GT Wheel and MXL2!
Well, it looks like there may be light at the end of the horizon, and it's NOT a train coming at us!
As an aside from the announcement of the new GT Wheels (which only work with modern cars using a non-logging ECU bridge or an EVO4 logger, and look just marvelous!), AiM Sports sent an e-mail to US Dealers today stating that, pending some wrapup on software finalization and testing, that the SC HD will most likely be here in quantity by early September.
They're trying for a trickle before the August Italian vacation break, but feel much more confident that they can finally peg the September delivery date, en masse. Given the long wait, I am not holding my breath and not taking anyone's money, yet...
However, if you have any interest in a pre-configured, custom setup for you SC HD and SC GP HD, let me know and I'll put you on my list.
Same goes for the MXL2, which I think will be really, really a substantial step up from the MXL Pista, a stalwart for many, many years!
I'm even thinking of buying a 320mm GT wheel with paddles for my sim!
Here is current information for the 320mm and 350mm wheels with optional paddles. http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/pro...heel/index.htm
Buy it from me and I'll set it up before I send it.
Now, this will work in any street car (with the proper hub and adapter) using a non-logging ECU bridge for supplying information. Any channel accessible from the ECU can be displayed on the wheel, including configuring the shift lights. This is a great opportunity for HPDE guys to improve the level of information supplied and not necessarily interested in adding a logger. If you feel like it, you can stick an EVO4 between the ECU connection and the wheel and log all of the parameters present on more modern cars for later study. This is a cool deal!
The leather is like buttah...
God, I love tech...

I am toying with the idea of picking up the SmartyCam HD GP and using it on my Rotax DD2 Kart integrated with my existing MyChron4 data logger. So it sounds like September is finally the date we will see them? I know this is probably too much to ask, but are we looking at early in the month or later in the month? My Karting season will be ending sometime in late September or early October. An early SC HD release still gives me time to play with the unit this season. A late release could arrive too late.
On a different front I think I would get some rather strange looks in the paddock if I showed up with the AIM GP Steering Wheel installed on my PCR Kart chassis. and it would be total overkill to use the SC HD on my 993 because I lost all access to any local full sized race tracks two years ago with no sign of a replacement being built any time soon. There sure is a lot of "not in my backyard" sentiment where I live when it comes to motorsports.
But I might still be in the market for the SC HD GP. Are you a distributor for AIM products?

I am an authorized, stocking dealer of AiM Sportline products and am in the top 10% of US dealers by volume. Be glad to help, but I can NOT say when they'll be here until they are in my hands.
In my previous life, I owned a large independent Ferrari and Alfa Romeo repair shop. The Italian's have a saying; "Domani, domani.." It means "Tomorrow, tomorrow" and is very inexact!
I would say mid to late September is more likely...

So the MXL2 is still coming out basically as seen. The MXG has a full color display with 8 alarms and configurable LEDs. It's a lot bigger than a MXL2 or Pista. Those two along with the Evo5 are planned to be shipped in Mid February. The MXG seems to be pretty fairly price at $2,599.
Even cooler was the PDM module they have on display. Too bad I just rewired my car...

What are you going to get, Matt?
I think the MXL2 at $1999 is just fine, for most.

I have put a very slightly used MXL in the new race car but will be using the hd version of SmartyCam. The MXL is less money, which is nice (says the guy building a new race car!).
