Assuming this stacks up, I'm going to jump on this Monday morning.

Now to decide which location....I'm thinking either Road Atlanta or Lime Rock.

Lime Rock. Shorter laps = more times instructor see you and can work on corners.

^This. Lime Rock.

That's how and where I started with racing. You are going to have a blast. And the 40% off deal is great, too. FYI though, a friend of mine told me yesterday that he tried booking the school for LRP and it was already full.

40% off 4k is not bad at all.

Thanks. I'm definitely leaning toward Lime Rock. I've got friends in NYC I can visit at the same time.

IIRC, there were discussions regarding financial, safety and maintenance issues regarding Skip Barber schools and equipment.

Food for thought. Looks like their biggest problem has been managing their cashflow which is creating all kinds of problems for them.

I'm not sure I read enough in all of those threads that would put me off from going though.

I'm assuming when people are referring to the Jim Russell school they're talking about what now seems to have been rebranded as "Simraceway" at Infineon?

I too read through the threads and didn't find enough to make me stop the great fun and learning I've had while racing MX-5's with them since 09. The open wheel cars are older and, IMO, less safe than the MX-5's but can't say anything else about them from experience.

Many companies are having cash flow hick ups in this economy so SB is no exception. I don't think anyone there is making a killing from this business. It is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts at what I consider to be optimal levels of safety, fun, competitiveness, and cost not likely to be found elsewhere. There are dozens of my racer friends who keep coming back season after season -- some of them for more then 15 years in a row. I'd like to see an analysis comparing SB's safety record with any other arrive & drive series or with racing in general.

Not affiliated with them in any way. Just a satisfied customer/racer with an interest in more people joining the fun.
