Total BS...Nelson Ledges has one working faucet! Seriously, it is a bit rough, but it's a fun track.

Like the incidents at Nurburgring and at Lime Rock, this was generally considered to be due to a cardiac event that preceded it.

Yes, Frank. I am aware of the contradictions in my statements... I'm confusing real race cars with very, very fast street cars and GT cars.

entirely possible. interesting that the autopsy (or at least what was reported of it) didn't mention that though.

I did speak to folks who were there. Both the Lime Rock and the Blackhawk fatalities were in FV's...

There's another factor mentioned that I can speculate had some effect: "VINTAGE"
Racing "Old" racecars is really a LOT more dangerous.

Looks like this heat-stress thing may be catching a trend? Racers getting "over-Nomexed" under heat and humidity, perhaps?

Especially if "vintage" refers to both car and driver? Just guessing, but I would bet the average age of drivers in vintage races would be higher than the drivers in "regular" ones. Either way, this confluence of deaths is disturbing.

I'm not aware of a trend of current fatalities based the age of the car, at least in my informal data gathering over the last twenty five years at both Club and vintage events. Average age appears to be ten to fifteen years higher than in vintage than in Club, and I have seen more fatalities due to cardiac events in and out of the car at vintage events, but maybe because I am at more vintage events!

Wow, 6 @ LRP, my "home" track. ZERO at the Glen is quite amazing. Looks like all those close armcos may be decreasing the chances of a fatality at the expense of increasing the chances of a contact/crash. Very interesting. Thx for posting this.

Do not believe that is a complete list, missing big time deaths like JD McDuffie and the 2005 PCA DE Boxster fatality at Watkins Glen.

I've been at Summit, Lime Rock, Mid-Ohio and Moroso during (and on track with, in some cases) incidents where drivers died. Not cool.
