Wisdom of driving with 3 point harness and no halo aside..

He knows something right: Notice that when he is about to hit the wall, he puts his hand up to brace his head. First time is when he almost hit and then right before he really does hit - the hands go up again. Bracing his head or he would surely have been very badly hurt.

Anyone want to explain why the airbags didn't go off? Disabled air bags and a 3-point. That can't be.

If you look at the pictures of the aftermath, the hit wasn't that hard. No airbags required. No one in the pass seat so airbags are automatically disabled?

It appears that the side passenger airbag deployed from the still shot above.
Also, at the end of the video you can see he has a Schroth harness over his right shoulder. I'm not sure why he moved quite so much. I'm guessing these seats did not have much lateral bolstering to limit his movement.

Looks like the side airbag went off. Can see the puff of smoke.

Hmmm - you are right. Passenger side did deploy.

I mistook the airbag mist for the barrier which appears to use water as a buffer. Lots of water outside. (sure saved the car!) Maybe a combination of both.

Indeed weird the passenger bag went off and not the drivers. The passenger system is supposed to be disabled if there is no weight in the seats. But maybe thats only for USA spec seats and maybe rules are different there.

I guess the passenger bags deployed to protect the ghosts of coaches past..

I went through the video several times as slow as I could. There was no airbag deployment that I could see. I agree the still shot looks like it, but that smoke came from the floor and still continues after the car stops.

Would love to know conclusively if it went off.

Anyone else notice that the safety crew member is taking "holy sh*t, this guy just crashed a GT3" pictures with his camera phone?!?

We can be an entire ocean apart but we are still all the same....

He put the parking brake on before getting out of the car. I'm guessing not a very experienced driver.
