I have used them on several clients' cars. Very useful & helpful, keeping your hands much closer to the wheel at all times.

It was useful to have one at COTA given all the shifting. For the tall version, watch out for it interfering with center nets, access of gauges/switches, seating because it raises your arm...you may need more room pulling back, I had interference with the shoulder wings on my seat, moving it back a notch took care of it.

I have my shifter mounted high (custom built in my case), and much prefer it that way.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to try the 4 inch riser.

hey couple of things:
1. yes, excellent, nice mod
2. the make a efw other kinds. one kind adjusts has linkages so folds down or up, back forward. i dont recall who makes it but there are 1,2 models that are completely adjustable so you put it exactly as high, low forward or back that you want.
3. contact Tiv @ Hudson historics, who built a really sweet one out oc arbon. weighs like absolutely nothing, but really stiff, really trick. etc. its in one of his WC caymans he built that ran at cota.
mine is adjustable but i kind of wish i had the carbon one.

Tiv worked for ZSA fully for 2 years or so, outstanding individual.
He now works over at Hudson Historics, yet still is the car chief/shop for ZSA. give him a shout, he'll hook you up.

How is this one done? Appears very simple and effective.

I went for the same effect in my 944. I did a short shift mechanism at the tranny in the back, reducing throw. And then added an extension to my shift lever, raising the **** and lengthening the throw back to be about the same as it originally was. I love it.

Watch out for cable and clip binding with these taller spacers, you can see it in the photo. The better setups tilt the shifter body to account for this.

I use the similar to the above photo in my 6GT3 trackcar and use the tall Rennline one in my SPB. Both have a 997GT3RS shifter on top. The 6GT3 has Cup cables also.

Having the shifter higher was a necessity for me as I have had significant reconstructive surgery in my right shoulder and suffer from a loss of feeling at normal shifter height moving from the steering wheel down to the shifter. I almost money shifted the 6GT3 last year because of the condition. Once we raised it on the 3 inch rise shafts the problem was gone.

When I bought the SPB I knew I needed a higher shifter to be able to race it. The 7 inch rise of the Rennline means I minimal movement to shift gear and made for siginifacntly less fatigue in my right shoulder as a result. I now want to make the GT3 higher!

I would highly recommend it. As suggested, the stands that tilt the shifter will be significantly better in terms of fitment and component stress.

I have seen these in other cars and like the feel, so we are adding them to both cars. Going witht the 7 inch riser.

Thread resurrection: I've had the Rennline 4" riser in my garage for a while and went to install it this morning but found the stock cables in my 996 don't quite have the length to allow my (Numeric) shifter to sit flush on the riser.

Has anyone installed the Rennline riser with stock cables successfully? I still have my Ebrake functioning although center console was removed long ago. Has anyone run the shifter cables over the Ebrake assembly ( rather than routed under per the stock configuration) to get a more direct routing?
