Is it just me or are there less commercials?

Glad to have it on but I miss Varsha- he's doing Sebring right now...
Taped an extra hour last night but didn't matter with the postponement...

Anyone know if NBC is going to cover the rescheduled qualifying?

Not sure if it's a repeat of the original or the re-scheduled, but there is a time block on NBCSP for qualifying at 1:30PM Eastern.

Do miss Varsha but Diffy will do. Last season they were dumbing down the tech discussions on speed so to tell you the truth I hardly noticed a difference.

One thing I do love is not going from F1 broadcast to a NASCAR, JR jeans or a "are U Faster'n A Redneck" commercial... Good riddance speed...

I am wondering the same thing I know that the "Replay" of qualifying is scheduled prior to the race tonight, but I am wondering if they are going to cover the qualifying live at 5PM PST

My suspicion is that they will edit to the action. That seems typical.

I think they are doing a great job so far. I like Diffey, but I will miss Varsha. I have been watching/listening to him since the Camel GT days in IMSA, and he is one of us Porschephiles. And like me, he was a student athlete at the finest college in the United States.

I wonder how he feels after so many years of F1. At the end of last year they all seemed to get emotional on air. Maybe I will ping him via SpeedTV e-mail in the coming weeks.

Practice and qualifying were already scheduled to be re-broadcast at 10:30pm and midnight respectively so hopefully Sunday qualifying gets broadcast in the midnight slot.

Ha, I mentioned this last night, but I think I jinxed it. The second they were to the actual race, there were more. Still seems like less commercials, though.

At least the commercials seem less obnoxious than Speed's.

I DVR'd the race and was it me, or did the recording pick up right as the race started? I didn't get any normal pre-race stuff. Maybe there was a conflict in my recording or something....

Anyway, I like Diffy. Met him a few times and he's an awesome guy. First time was when we were at a wine dinner with TRG/Adobe Road and he walks up to me and says "Hi, my names Leigh". I laughed and said "yeah, no kidding!" Talked a lot all night about racing in the US, F1, ALMS/Grand Am merger, racing around the world, etc. He said a couple time how lucky and privileged he feels to have this awesome job.

Oh, and the boy can put down a glass of wine or two!!

I miss Varsha mainly because it would be nice to have an American in the booth, but I truly like the excitement Leigh shows when something happens on track.

Overall, a good race, good coverage (thought a couple times when they had an in-car, the motor sound was NOT the car they were covering).

I noticed that! I thought Alonzos' car was way off but then realized the sound was not synced or was a different car.

Yep, it was mildly entertaining to hear multiple downshifts as Alonzo was going down the first portion of the front straight.

There was the normal 30mins of pre-race on my recording but trust me you didn't miss anything.

Did anyone actually get to see qualifying?
