It may have been a contest - but someone STILL had to choose it.
These contests are so the organization doesn't have to spend money on properly good work. I deal with clients all the time that try to go this route only to pick something crappy that doesn't work for them. In the end, it will end up costing more money (as in money lost), than doing it properly. In the end - you truly get what you pay for.

Out of 8,00 entries, that was the best one? I hope they post the other 7,999, they must be comical...
As far as a logo, a picture of my morning crap would look better....
Just my 2 cents... I really hope the racing is good.

Obviously they're looking forward to having USCAR logos on the sides of the cars, just like NASCAR... completely consistent with their branding, they simply had to have a fan sign up to take responsibility.
Anyone wanna do a photochop of the new NASCAR/USCAR name??

They said at the beginning that they were working hard to do this right and yet they have failed with the most basic components - horrible logo, lame name and poor class structure. Personally, I think they need only 3 catagories: LMP2, DP and GT (maybe one more if you must have a green/challenge class, but it must be visually distinct.)
Anyway, I wonder if they will try to spin some BS, that fans overwelmingly like the new name & logo, like Atherton did regarding web-only live coverage (another major fail).
Drop the egos, suck it up and start over!

The "contest" was:
1. have people submit ideas
2. put all ideas in a tumbler
3. rotate tumbler
4. blindfolded person reaches into tumbler and pulls out "winner".

It's worse than you thought, Chad. They paid BIG bucks for a national "big name" branding firm. WTF is up with the crappy logo? Oh well.

In general, I find most of their stuff pretty cheesy. I do like the Miami Marlins logo. I just can't imagine how much they paid for all of the presentations, drafts, etc., and THIS is what they came up with!

Wow - this makes the Gene Simmons "I Am Indy" fiasco look like a brilliant move.

Sad, sad day. Nascar spec car for US Top tier prototype? No Audi R10, no Porsche 918, no Toyota hybrid, no factory BMW, Ferrari, what a joke. We couldn’t have just one, real, World Class Prototype P1…..
Nascar continues to regulate to the lowest common denominator, and promote by regulating a spec car, how “great” American engineering is, what a joke. Look at the lap times from Laguna Seca from 2012, the ALMS GT cars 1.23.624, the Nascar spec prototype, 1.22. 478, don’t worry, Nascar will slow the ALMS GT cars down, that is the American engineering way!
Hey Nascar, take your Top tier prototype to Le Mans this year, opps, sorry, you won’t make minimum speed for P1.
