after all that hype...that's what they came up with?

No reference to the USA. IMSA had the US Flag, Grand Am referenced America.
I beleive they overstepped the "coming together" theme of unity. Yuck, the logo is ugly.

Took me too long to figure out the logo was a helmet (I think) = FAIL
"United" name theme very weak. In 10-yrs folks say "United from what?" So another FAIL
Again, too many classes for the fans to follow = Major FAIL

Crap. Crap. Crap. If they paid for that logo and brand name, they should be screaming for their money back.
Horrible. Even USF1 went through a proper brand design firm to prepare a fantastic brand name and visual image. This is horrible.

I'm still trying to figure out what was wrong with just adopting IMSA as is...not as "sanctioning body" but as series identity.
a name with some recognition/loyalty and a brilliant logo.
sigh...

I'm serious:

Nearly 8,000 ideas were submitted! Louis Saterlee, 25, of Florida suggested United SportsCar Racing. What a great name, made even better by Louis’s story. He was hooked to motorsport at the age of two, was the 2011 Florida Karting Championship Series – Rookie of the Year, and has been attending both the Rolex 24 At Daytona and the Twelve Hours of Sebring with this father for 22 consecutive years!
“Sportscar racing became my religion,” explains Satterlee. As for the name? He adds, “United, because two series are now one. SportsCar because it’s what we do. And Racing because, is there really any other way these machines should be run?”
