One interesting thing is that it appears more than one constructor has found some sort of legal variable ride height mechanism. A few cars were dragging their aft skids very late in the race despite the light fuel load. Interesting indeed.

Just for the usual Webber baggers...lol you guys are as predictable as his bad starts.
So he's sitting on the grid with no Comms between him and the pit and no KERS at the start or the rest of the race.
To finish 6th with their tyre wear issues (4 stops vs Kimi's 2) wasn't as bad as it could have been. Both Vettel and Webber's tyres were badly graining.

I thought a great start to the season.
Just wondering on two things:
-Why can't Weber figure out how to launch?
-What would have been for Alonso had Massa not held him up in the early going?

Frank, Webber must have something wrong with his launch technique based on how often he is swamped by all around him. However he has been very unlucky over many seasons through having failures of his equipment. As you can see in my post above, he lost all communications with his engineers while sitting on the grid. This means he has to totally guess where to set his take off map. He got massive clutch slip yesterday and on top of all this he had no KERS (yet again!!) for the whole race. That he pulled off the pass of the race and struggled to 6th with very poor tyre deg was actually a pretty good result.

Massa has been outdriving Alonso over the last few races of 2012, 2013 testing and this race. Don't sell him too short.

By all means congrats to Kimi. Great to see and this years title will be a closely fought one. Probably down to the last race is my tip.

Great race by Kimi, and cool that the podium was occupied by 3 world champions. If yesterday's race is any indication of the season ahead, it should be an exciting one.

I can't agree that Webber couldn't set his take off map. Not only has he been at Red Bull long enough to know it, but really, a take off is a take off, they are all the same. The map would be of more consequence for differing tracks, not the initial 100 yards. Fail for Webber. I'm kind of surprised has hasn't lost his seat for this recurring problem alone. It's not like Formula 1 is a 24 hour race.

Great race, nice to see Kimi win a well planned, clean race.

Ferrari outsmarted RBR for a change, which was nice to see. Bringing in Alonso early ended up being the right call since Massa was never able to make an impression on Vettel. Massa was very fast, so kudos. Hope to see more from him.

This looks to be the begining of a great season.

As far as Lotus, they have shown steady progression since last year and this win was no fluke. The only question is whether they are at the end of the development for this car or can make the incremental improvements over the year that Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes will make.

I was worried after qualifying, but excellent result (even if the race wasn't too exciting).
I'm mostly neutral; I just want to see good races with as many players as possible, so I'm happy to see MB, Lotus, Ferrari and RB all looking strong. Kinda "lost" McLaren, but maybe FI or another middle-tier team will surprise us like Sauber and Williams did last year.

The strongest mid-tier team looks like Force India, at least based on their Melbourne performance. We'll see how they fare in Malaysia.

Congratulations to Kimi. He drove a good race, and Lotus was able to do it on a two stop schedule while the rest of the top drivers did it on a three stop schedule. This is going to be a recurring issue throughout the 2013 season. Kimi was not a big surprise, and if you were looking for a surprise, it had to be the performance of Adrian Sutil with Sauber I predict that Adrian Sutil will visit the podium several times this season....

I wanted Bianchi to get the Force India ride that Sutil got, I predict Bianchi will be the next Ferrari driver to be signed.

I was impressed with Sutil's drive in the Force India though. DiResta is no slouch and he needs to raise his game or this will be his last year in F1.
