PCA Mardi Gras Cup - NOLA Motorsports Park
#32
Well the first Mardi Gras Cup went very well. We had a nice turn out considering that COTA is just a few weeks away. I hope you guys enjoyed the track and plan to make the trip again next year. I skipped the Sunday warm up and took some pics. I think I was able to get a few shots of everybody in both groups, I'll post them up a little later with my video from the last race.

Thanks to y'all for putting on such a classy, well run event. The facility has the finest amenities of any I've visited but that was outdone by the wonderful hospitality extended to us by the region. The track was pretty racy with absolutely no 2nd gear corners and super good flow.
Hope many more of you can make an ever bigger success next year.

LOL....!
Car looked good on track.
Couple of first time issues I heard while asking around and the main one seemed to be all associated with grid and tightness of the roll out to track area.
I'm sure anything related to that will be resolved for next time.....there is so much area left that can be utilized to not funnel the grid out into such a small place.
Those of us from here can only jump up and down and scream how great NOLA is so much....., it's needed (and appreciated) that people from other regions that attended do some of the talking.....so, thanks.
Maybe next year they set a date that coincides with 'Jazz Fest' or something. But in reality, this track can draw all on it's own....I personally think the proximity to COTA hurt this time so even more props to those that are doing both.
Hoping to see the Amonds pop in here....Mr Carl features prominently in the video Eon promised...

I was lucky enough to steward the PCA CR at NOLA this past weekend.
A completely first class facility. Huge paved paddock, bathrooms better than most of the ones in our homes, catered food available for breakfast and lunch. A hosted bar Saturday night before the dinner. The "Racer Girls" who were around most of Saturday and Sunday were very easy on the eyes and were raising money for a couple of good causes.
Lots of great racing.
The Repsol 962 raced with us on Saturday. Not very often you get to see one of those.
IMHO the most raceable track Alan Wilson has designed to date.
The facility also has another separate 2.5 mile course planned just south of the paddock with connections planned between the two courses to allow one huge 5 mile track.
The Mardi Gras region folks were first class. The track management, workers, maintenance, EV crews, etc. etc. etc. were also first class and very accomodating as they were seeing some great, close, clean racing.
Almost no work for the steward.
This is a race that should ahve 150-200 racers next year without the additional amenity of the French Quarter and its various charms only 30 minutes away.
Put it on your calendar for next year guys.

Excellent event. As mentioned, top notch facility, track, and event!
Not to mention you can stay downtown/quarter and be at the rack in 20 minutes!
Hope to see more cars next year to fuel the E class battle!

John Crosby said I could post his in car video of the Mardi Gras Cup Saturday sprint,
Video is from # 59 Brumos GT3 Cup, a rare car in it's own rite, 1 of 5 iirc.
For those who weren't there, we even had a 962 run the sessions on Saturday.
Video is of JC chasing the 962 for the overall win.
