New race car project Another Spec 996?

Thanks. I should have written my question a bit more clearly. What I'm really trying to find out is for a custom non rear engine Porsche race car. So I'm hoping to upgrade the suspension to a multilink system but am not sure if I need to go higher than e.g. 996 or 996tt in terms of structural integrity. I will have the luxury of a custom mounting so some of the adjustment that is available to the GT3 or Cup cars over the more normal road cars may not be an issue. Hence my enquiry as to whether I need to go to the expense of buying higher spec'd hardware if there is no difference in the actual strength.
Who would be a good person to discuss this with and thanks for the input.

After over a year I am finally back on this project, we received the car back from the cage builder and I am going hot and heavy to finish it by the end of the year. Maybe I can have it done for Sebring.

Maybe too late but I would suggest you pare down the heavy wiring harness. Not easy to do, but a competent electrically inclined mechanic can do it. I saved around 40 lbs in wiring and another 25 lbs dumping the leather dash and gauge cluster.
FWIW, my 99', which was a 996 Spec, now weighs 2425 on fumes.....

I spy English Bob / American Bob's car in the background!
I completely forgot about your 996 and glad to see the build is going well. See you at Road America in a couple weeks!

Cage looks nice!
I have to bolt 135# of ballast to the floor to make weight for H (3060#). I have glass in all windows but no cool suit cooler.
I'm in the same boat as you re class sizes for spec996 in the Midwest - thus running H now.
Also, you can use the taco wing for spec996 (slightly less downforce than the Getty) if switching back and forth.
Good luck and keep us updated!
