Former Vendor
We received a few as well. I used one at Sebring DMTD the last two days.
initial impressions:
1. lighter than my previous pro carbon one from hans; materially lighter just based off holding them each in one hand;
2. the smaller rounded section makes getting it on and off a smidge easier
3. double edge sword - the unit has little flanges or lips that keep the hans shoulder strap in position a bit better. they had these on their previous NON-carbon versions, but not on the previous high end unit. so if you didnt get the straps just right, or, over time, the straps might start to slide off the side of the hans a bit. so thats pretty neat
but, the downside, if i were an endurance driver in grand am or ALMS with driver changes, i might be a bit more cautious, because i found it far more difficult to get the shoulder straps up and over those things entirely. in driver change situations, i would usually slam into the car seat, let the driver change assistant do the lap belt, then while they plug in the radio or water tube and close up the netting, id do my own shoulders. etc.
i guess the bottom line is that i couldnt just throw the shoulder belt down , click and tighten, i actually had to make sure it fell within those lips/flanges entirely. for club racing, single driver events....zero worries.
anyway, just mentioning that as it could be an issue for some.

I have always found with lipped HANS devices and wider belts that if I did the shoulder belts diagonally (right hand grabs left belt & pulls it towards navel, left hand grabes right belt & does the same), I could align even wide 3" belts super-quickly on driver changes, and they would never come off.

It is somewhat amusing to watch H&D paint themselves into a corner with the design flaw of the product (keeping the device under the harness in an impact)
No wings
Mini Wings
Friction material
2-3" HANS specific harnesses
Mini Wings with friction material
Now large wings with friction material.
Better, but still no where near correct.
