Big win for Porsche Motorsports NA though. They sold a ton of parts.

Can't recall where I read it but the GX Caymans used the 3.8L X51 version of the 9A1 direct injection motor. Same basic motor as the 997 GTS. It doesn't have an IMS like M96 and M97. But it's not the Metzger design as used in GT3s, GT2, TT. Not claiming to be an authority. Just what I have read.

Yes. The Direct Injection Engines (9A1 series) replaced the M96 & M97 engines. This engines has proven, so far, to be more durable. Time will tell but it seems to be a much better engine.

In order for a Cayman S to not be a moving chicane with a DP passing at 190mph, there's no way a 3.4L is up to the task. You need a 400rwhp variant like the DFI X51 GTS motor.

Without taking anything from the excellent runs that earned GX podium spots...
Assuming or suggesting that a podium finish (in a different class) proves hardware superiority is flawed. A trio of Mazdas that completed less than 150 laps COMBINED is not comparable to the effort put in by Audi or even Ferrari. (the ONLY car that a mazda beat was the viper) 8 Cup cars beat the GX winner.
Congratulations to Napelton, Bullet and BGB!

I honestly meant no offense to you. I know what it takes to prepare for and complete a 24. Especially considering the other challenges you guys were dealing with that weekend. Things that were not your fault, but you handled them very well regardless. I apologize if I came across as critical to you or the other Cayman teams; it was not my intention.
The competition among the Caymans was certainly no joke, but the Mazdas were. The sentiment that the Porsche GT teams or hardware were lacking is misleading. Perhaps I was reading too much into the comments, but to underestimate what the GT Porsches and the Audis brought to the table is not fair, and I was compelled to say something.
The durability of the Caymans was truly impressive. I did not doubt that it could make the distance, but I am surprised that all 3 did. Again, congratulations. I understand the difficulty and accomplishment better than most.
