Despite the name, the bias 11.5 is actually 10.6" wide, the exact size of the 10.5 radials. I just called Competition Tire East - the radials apparently haven't been discontinued, and they have 10.5" radials in stock. I hope this helps.

The difference in cost is $140 a tire. That's only $560 more per set......what a deal!

Yeah, the radials are more expensive. I've used scrubs for years. $75 per tire!

Scott and Mike
Latest word is they are in production again. Any idea where the best place to buy the Bias Ply tires is?

Goodyear had a lot of 16 x 14 x 27 (#1571) bias ply tires left in inventory when they made the decision to stop production on some of the other sizes. They also left several customers in the lurch with unusable and/or unsellable inventory. They decided to make some 16 x 13 x 25 (#1570) tires to mate up with these. They also had some 16 x 10.5 x 23.5 (#1651) tires in inventory and decided to make some more. They told me these would be in limited supply and available around July or August. They also told me the price would be much higher than 2012 numbers.

So you may be able to find 16 x 10.5 x 23.5 and 16 x 13 x 25 430 compound tires at places like Shelby, Roger Kraus Racing and Hoerr Racing Products.

Goodyear suggested to me this was likely a one time production run to mate up tires with inventory that they otherwise couldn't sell. And they told me that there were no plans to ever produce 16 x 11.5 x 23.5 (#1653) tires.

Like others, I am likely to change to Hoosier 16 inch radials.

One PRC racer may have a set of low HC Goodyears to sell.

Thanks, Mike
Got a set of the Hoosier R35A's in the mass buy this spring and ran them last weekend. They were just ok. Saw that people were going to 14" rears with the radials. That means body work etc. Really would prefer to not go there. Are there Hoosier radials that will fit our current set flares/tires with just suspension changes?
The radials seem to be faster and last longer. Do they stick like the bias? What are they like at the limit?

After years of running the GY bias ply slicks, I switched to the Hoosier radials and have no regrets. They stick better than the GY bias ply. I was seeing about 1 sec faster at Thunderhill and Sears Point on the radials. I had some learning to do (flat spotted a couple sets) so I don't know the overall longevity yet.

Even if GY swears they will continue to produce them, I will not go back. Supply was always an issue and now that we have identified a faster tire for similar money in essentially the same sizes ....

Same here. Got Hoosier radials and really like them. Felt much more confidence inspiring. Only had 1 weekend on them and was figuring out a few other things on the car, but ran equal to my previous GYBP fastest lap times without pushing it as hard. Need more data points, but so far very satisfied and supply is not in question.

We are getting a lot of mixed messages from GY. Scott ran the Avons and while the Hoosier BP was just ok, my times were down. It was smokin hot at TH last weekend and nobody matched previous times that I saw. The PRC forum indicated that GY knew they made a mistake by stopping production, so I don't know what to think.
Right now maybe it is best to finish out the year with the BP tires and switch to the radial set up this winter. Still, Larry, and I think Masuo and maybe Mat are going to 14" rears and 12" fronts? That means new flares as well as a set up change plus wheels?
This is getting expensive.
