I know this isn’t a Porsche, but it is part of the family and we would like to share a video featuring our GMG Racing Audi R8 LMS SCCA World Challege #14 race car driven by James Sofronas this past weekend at the Porsche Owners Club event at Willow Springs International Race Way last weekend. Racing against 25 Porsches, James took first place in the Red Cup Race.

 

That thing sure does make all the right noises...

 

Great addition of the time slip/time gap/time differential in the lap time display. Great teaser!

 

Were all the pca guys mad at the one Audi in the field and leaving them in the dust

POC, not PCA. And nope, we expected James in the WC Audi to walk away (I suspect he could have gone even faster). No other WC level cars in the field.

It was fun to see the car on track - even if I was not close enough after the start to get any decent video (qualified 5 seconds back).

I actually brought the Audi up for some reference laps with another client who just got his R8 LMS and was going to park it after the GMG Test Day that Thursday before the weekend. The plan was to run the GT2 Cup but it had a water pressure issue so I decided to park it and I was dying to race something so it came out just in time for qualifying and the race.

Plus, wife and 2 young kids came up and my 3 year old daughter asked me if I was going to race..........so I couldn't let her down..... She is a little racer herself.....

 

Great drive James as usual. Just for reference the 336 car next to him on pole is a 07' cup with a 4.0 liter in it and the 204 black/orange car that came flying up on the start is a x-Lizards 05' RSR. Here's the MyLaps results for that race: http://www.mylaps.com/results/showrun.jsp?id=2541869

 

James, I race a mid-engine platform as well. If you need any pointers . . . .

Are you running any Pcars next season?

 

We plan to have a bunch of Porsches in POC and PCA, as we are building a Club Racing Support Program.

WC will mainly be Audi's and a few Porsches racing through the year.

I'm betting he could also. His average in T1 was only 10mph faster than the average of a front runner Boxster Spec (his was 90, Spec is 80) For a car rolling 30mph faster into the braking for T1 at WSIR, It would suggest he could roll more than 10mph faster than a Spec car on DOTR's and no downforce

Of course, it was a customer car
