Well, now that Grand-Am GT and World Challenge GT are homologating virtually every GT3 spec car for use, hopefully they will get it right and let Porsche run the GT3R, instead of just the Cup car moving forward.

Sounds like a big program across several series. Good for TRG. I hope they bring back the racing green the old ALMS cars ran, looked way more unique than the white ones that have been running in GrandAM.

TRG is still running Porsche in ALMS GTC, and at least 4 at Daytona....
Keep in mind...2013 is kind of a lame duck year from both GA and ALMS. Nothing specific for 2014 yet, the entire landscape could change....so the teams need to figure out 2013 and get/do whatever comes along. Porsche's in GA this past couple years have been at a somewhat disadvantage and no new RSR...GTC is one place to at least run and be able to be competitive.
But my 'guess' is that AMR came along with a big check, and Kevin, being the smart business guy he is, couldn't say no. Prestige (and $$) will help build TRG into a bigger empire where he can run more/different stuff.
Just my guess at it....

Very cool to see TRG and the AMR Program come to fruition, congrats KB!
Many of the "Racing Programs" out there are "Customer" Driven, which is very much the core of this TRG Program with AMR, and that's why we are running 4 Audi R8's in WC for 2013, we had customers request to have us run this car for them and we then started to build our relationship with AoA and ASCR. Just like TRG with the Aston Martin and AJR with the Lotus in ALMS, these programs are driven by customer requests to run a certain model and/or Manufacturer involvement/support.
Our Audi program falls into both these categories.
We will still be racing Porsches, in fact we had 3 of them at the POC Willow Springs race this past weekend, but with the new FIA GT3 cars becoming more available, they are great cars for both Pro Programs and Customer Programs.
WC will allow the GT3 cars in the GT class but not without restrictions. We have to run a restrictor, remove the big wing and splitter and run a 2.5" ride height. But the good part about all that is that we DON'T have to have a specific GA spec roll cage to run in WC and we can use the existing FIA spec cage. GA made Audi change the roll cage dimensions for the GA spec R8 and that added considerable costs to the car.
In the end, racing is about evolution and when the new 991 Cup comes out with the better chassis, aero and new paddle shifters, it will be strong car and we will race those as well.
Congrats to KB for the AMR program.......more of these FIA GT3 cars racing in the U.S. the BETTER!!
Look out for WC in 2013, we could have over 11 GT Manufacturers racing including the new MB SLS, AMR program, 458 and Z4!!

I would love to see the Ginetta GT3-spec car run with these cars!

And these are the details that don't get publicized. I can't even imagine what you guys have to go through in buying a "race ready" car from a manufacturer, versus the crappy "legal" cages built to the roll cage appendix specs that we rolled up with 30 years ago.
