Some may think so for a DE. I don't really care. I have a dedicated track car and even if a DE/open track day i wear every piece of gear that I can. I fell I owe it to my family. If someone thinks i'm a poser that's too bad. While I know the risk of fire is very small, any amount of risk that can be reduced is worth it to me.

Here are the trends that I have seen;

DE POC: depends on driver and car
DE PCA: generally no but some do

TT POC: generally yes but some do not
TT PCA: depends on driver and car

Racing POC/PCA: Required, everyone wears one.

Personally, I wear my drivers suit to every event (DE/TT/Race/Open Test). You can never be too safe.

So what then are the general differences between POC and PAC?

Fire doesn't know if it's a race, a track day or a DE. Wear your suit!

Big time! It seems to me that cars like the new GT3 and Ferrari 458 have been int the news this past year with fire problems so **** can definitely happen when you don't expect it.
I forgot about this thread. I am still loving my Evo One suit and now my wife wears one as well. Very comfortable and I know I'm protected.

So here is my racing dilemma. Back about 10 years when i was ametuer racing seriously I had a Stand21 custom three ply made. Had all my sponsors patches etc., sewed on. The suit is a bit snug now (body parts moved around, got fatter) and thinking of either...1.) buying a swatch of Nomex and having the tailor 're-fit' it for me or...2.) or buying a new suit. The one thing I know is that although the old heavy suit is in great shape, its older tech. and heavier and the new suits seems WAY lighter. Should I just bite the bullet and move up to new or will the 'retro-fit' be suitable? Thoughts?

As you said the new suits are WAY lighter. I'd bite the bullet.

Lots of good suits out there at reasonable prices. Basically the high tech, lighter weight suits cost more, but there are plenty of good mid priced suits out there.

This one is the lightest suit 3 layer protection, super lightweight: http://www.ogracing.com/sparco-extre...10-racing-suit

Some good mid priced suits: http://www.ogracing.com/sparco-rs-5-racing-suit

We've got a deep stock of suits in house. If you have any questions, give us a call at 800-934-9112, or email us at info@ogracing.com

Kind regards,

I just recently replaced my old (heavy) 3 layer suit with a Sparco M5 from OG Racing. It's a 3 layer suit that's reasonably light and very comfortable. It's also quite affordable at only $790 (regularly $900.).

I also found OG's customer service to be outstanding.
