Default Sparco Ultralegerra vs Evo-4

Hi All,
Happy Thanksgiving!

I wear the traditional Sparco suit size 62. Over the last year and a half I've lost 40 pounds thanks to keeping a food diary and exercising. Great performance mod for the cars! 40 pounds is hard to find elsewhere.

Anyhow, I'm looking to upgrade my suit because 1) it's huge on me now and 2) I feel like I'm hurting on those warmer track days.

I am looking at the Sparco Superlegerra and the Sparco Evo-4 suits. The only downside I see to the Ultralegerra is that it's only available in black or grey. I like color but I'm thinking this shouldn't be a deal breaker.

I do wear a cool shirt but I feel that I should probably get a proper fitting suit and one that breathes better than what I currently have.

Also, if anyone knows of any Black Friday discounts on these suits I'd be very interested!!!!
TIA

Personnaly I prefer the new OMP One Evo. 4 layers and the thinner suit I found in the market. Compare the weight per square meter to any other suit. The One Evo is 250g/m2.

http://www.ompamerica.com/racing/suits/ia01835/

It looks better and and feels light. Not like the other "winter suits" I tried before this one (AlpineStars and Puma).

Edit: I see that Sparco Superleggera is lighter at 230g/m2 but has 3 layers of nomex compared to 4 for the OMP One Evo and cost more.

Just ordered the OMP. Due to my, umm, "physique" they will be altering the waist section a bit.

Dave:
If you want to stick with a Sparco suit, we have a large stock of the Xlight Evo4 and Superleggera on the shelf. Personally, I prefer the Xlight Evo 4 over the Superleggera, main because I prefer the looks. Plus the XCool anti-bacterial treatment in the inside (made by DuPont) keeps the suit smelling fresh even on hot track weekends. If you have questions regarding sizing, please contact us at 800-934-9112 or PM me if you'd like.

Info on both can be found here:

Kind regards,

Thanks Mark.

I decided to buy the OMP One Evo from Clark at Apex who has the suit at a nice sale price on his site. I'm excited!

How breathable is the One Evo? Compared to, for example, the Sparco X-light?

Its partly a matter of fit. Each brand cuts to a different form. I can't wear Alpinestars at all. But when I tried on the Sparco Xlight Evo 4 I was in love. Tried the Evo3 and the 4 is noticeably lighter.

Note: The fabric on these super lightweight suits can somewhat fragile. Be careful about rips. I damaged the front zipper cover on mine - dunno how - and Sparco was super quick, friendly and very inexpensive to repair and return. Kudos for Sparco customer service.

Dave:
OMP makes a nice suit. I think you'll be happy with it. I wore a Tecnica Lucida for several years and it was comfortable and durable.

Another suit to consider is the new Sparco Extrema. I worn one this weekend at COTA, it's significantly lighter and cooler than even the Superleggera. However, the material is more delicate, no pockets, no belt, no double zipper. But freaky breathability, might give Stand 21 material a run.

The Sparco Extrema is unbelievably lightweight. It will be interesting to see what the other suit manufacturers come up with.

One of my personal favorites in terms of fit, quality of materials, and looks.
