Anyone have video of the Green Hornet taking out the Muscle Milk car during the race?
If my memory is correct, very similar circumstances.

If he was focused on what was in front of him, he should have seen the waving blue flags.

Word is that Takuma Sato was the driver .....

I guess we can now all empathize with the stewards in various series... Not as easy as we think to assign pure responsibility in a car to car wheel
To wheel contact scenario even with video from several viewpoints.
Looks like a racing incident to me, p car got a bit loose on curbing, snaps a bit, he tries to correct. Right rear is laying down a stripe before contact so he's got a bit of cleanup and in the meantime N car is making a pass. So overtaking car has respOnsibilty to make a clean pass and car being overtaken has to give racing room....in pca only of course...

So if you are the pca steward, who gets the 13....?

Probably best cut the video prior to shooting the finger in pca also before you share with the stewards...

Problem is this car has a rep in the paddock according to what the announcers said. Once in isolation maybe, multiple times during a season - different story.

+1. Grojean didn't get a one race suspension because of one isolated incident. An accumulation of incidents gets you a rep and more eyes on you.

Incidentally, to back up a few pages, Scott Liebler's unfortunate fatality was the circuit's first, in over 20 years of operation at the time.

PCA or not, it was an ill advised pass on the part of the DeltaWing, particularly given that this was practice.

Gunnar is very lucky the roll hoop did not dig into the dirt!! his helmet was so close to the ground.

Was Clinton the sports racer or open cockpit prototype incident that flipped?

he was racing an open cockpit Lola in the early days of Grand Am (before the DP)

as I recall the accident, he flipped in a gravel trap going from the front straight to infield at Homestead and the roll hoop failed.

Having just looked through the rulebook, 80mm is the required clearance to a line connecting the roll hoop to the body. 80mm is not much.

That's a bird (or "shuntee") if I've ever seen one.
Vent hose my ***.
