Yep, not particularly notable for integrated video and data (the Hreo 2 is more than enough), but nice to see the improvements for pro videographers.

I'd agree, although a lot of the times surfers will hold cameras behind them in their hands, but if this is the promo video, then you can see both of his hands so that's obviously not the case here.
The new camera looks sweet, too bad we just purchased the 2

The Black Editions will not be here until mid November. The Silver Editions will be shipping to us early next week, so we should have them in stock by the end of the month. The White Edition is only going to big box stores like Walmart and Costco.
Black Edition: $399
Silver Edition: $299

The Blacks are actually a pretty good deal when you factor in the built in WiFi. We use them a lot for stunt/FX shots and the footage will look even better now. Wish I would have known before I loaded up on H2/WiFi backs...

The mic is one of the improvements according to Go Pro. We'll field test one as soon as we receive and I will post the video.

Wifi and remote view already work in the various Contour models -- they just updated their camera to put all the GPS and whatever into one model -- it has a (much) more convenient bullet design. I can't understand why gopro persists with the ultra-cheapo box-brownie design.
But I think GoPro has outdone them with the higher frame rates.
As for the promo video, one word:
Mermaids!
ps. I'm guessing the swimming with the Blue Whale was a bit of CGI artistic license.

Looks like Contour now has their bullet camera in a waterproof 60 fps@720p version. At $199 (the gopro is $500 with all the trimmings) it seems to be a steal for 1080p@30fps and the gopro 3 "white" is $199 with wifi.
Contour promo videos are nothing compared to the Mermaids ...

(waterproof to 1m, so, okay for swimming or rain, but there's a dive case)
or the Contour+2 for the GPS etc.

After some side-by-side, I think the contour lens is delivering better video and decent happy snap stills, but most importantly, it's far easier to mount as a bullet-cam design instead of the "box" of the gopro that's awkward.
