Default 8v 944 N/A @ Road America - average fuel economy?

Trying to work out pit strategy, fuel stops, and driver changes for the Lemons race at Road America this weekend.

Our 944 can run for 2.5hrs on a single tank of fuel at Autobahn. (*Possibly* longer though we haven't pushed it past that.)

Anybody have any idea how long a tank of fuel will last in a 8v 944 N/A at Road America? Either mpg's or hours? Think it'll go 2:15 on a tank?

All the 944 racers I know either run Turbos or S2's...

If it's a late tank car, it should make 2:15 no problem if the air-fuel mixtures are adjusted right. An early, steel tank car probably would not.

Burn rates, even at Road America, shouldn't be more than 9 gal/hour.

Thanks.

The car is an '86 so it should have the late tank.

I might be able to make it up to help crew, but can't come until after work Monday. I could stay until Tuesday...

You're of course welcome to come up and say hello, and if there are problems the extra pair of hands is always helpful - but this is our 5th event so we're starting to find a pretty good rhythm.

When we ran the "Dragon" in the Road America Chumpcar race last year, we were burning 7-8 gallons per hour. Kuhns and I did a 3 hour enduro there in his spec car in October of last year and we were able to run the whole 3 with only a 5 gallon pit stop. I don't know how much was left in the tank afterwards, but that would mean that we burned 25 gallons or less.

We have no idea what track layout they are running. It would be nice to know, if for any other reason we can come up with a fuel/pit strategy. Right now we are assuming full track with the kink, which should be worst case fuel economy wise.
