Love to see video of Jack dusting RS's.
shaking down for racing is not DE, that's what is called open test days. that when done correctly is not a waste for sure.

i have ran BFG. great sticky rubber. but for me at least, they dont last nearly as long as RA1 or NT-01's.

Fair point. Down here we have a combo of what you'd describe as both of those type events. So the fast guys in race cars can do shake downs in the top group and the other guys can do their DEs in street cars.

Nitto Nt01 comes in those sizes RA1 does not
Bill/All,

I used Bill's paint stick measuring tip this morning; front rims are more like 10" not including the flange (bead width), and rears are 11" not including the flange. So I think these are probably the GT2 EVO wheels. 245/40R18 and 275/35R18 seem like not such great sizes for very high performance tires...were the stock sizes for the Turbo actually bigger than this in the rear? 993 Turbos OE sizes were 225/40 ZR 18 and 285/30 ZR 18 on 8 and 10" wide wheels, correct? Odd that those have different diameters front and rear.

Here are some pictures of my wheels that are already on the car. I have the front flare off (obviously)... any other tire sizes seem reasonable? It would appear I can go a little wider in the rear at least... Oh and date code for these is 0705, so that's late February 2005. 7.5 years old...

If you have 10 & 11" wheels with enough room, and you want bigger tires you could run 275 & 315 Nitto NT01's. It might be too much tire, maybe smaller is more optimal, you just have to test. But that would be a good balanced set-up that should provide nice grip and last a long time while you are shaking the car down and tuning out other mechanical issues. I run this size in my 911 at DE's. I get them at Discount Direct.

GT2 evo used 245/645 x18 and 305/670 x18 on the 10ET32/11ET14

I just responded to what you said was on the car. I assume that the car was properly set up for those sizes but you can certainly use other tires sizes

993 RSR used 9.5 & 11 x18

964 RSR used 9.5 & 11.5 x18

what you want to use depends on the chassis and how its' setup, if you assume that it was setup for the tires that are currently on it then you will want to use similarly sized tires

Hoosier R6 would be another tire to consider that is a step down form a race slick

some concerns wrt changing tire sizing are the following
1) effect on ABS function, which is affected by software, trigger wheel tooth count and tire radius

2) effect on gearing

3) fit within the wheel wells

I went ahead and ordered a set of the Nitto NT01s as recommended by Bill. I'm sure they will be a good first tire on this car for me.

Thanks everyone.
